If we(the Oscars) get to play, I will do something really fucked up like eat some really old canned sardines and vomit in a midgets buttcheeks while wearing a gutted dead baby pony on my head that has a chopped of neighbor vagina in its mouth, that is secreting mustard. And then I will "finger-tap" a cover of eddie van halen's ERUPTION with only one hand and the tip of my uncircumsized penis, while eatting a hotdog. Because if we do get to play it will be fucking amazing !

THE GORIES

Ain't no Crypt band playin'. Don't you know about the curse?
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 1:47 am

What's "The Curse?"
Posted: Feb 2, 2006 2:03 am

If the Gories reformed, someone'd have to remove their musical talent via some kind of brain evaporator or something. Or make them play left-handed guitars and only reherse for one week before playing. I like the Gories unmusicalness.

there is a holiday inn around clinton and congress, that's about as close as you're going to get. it wouldn't be an insane cab ride or you can take the western bus to the blue line and get off at the clinton blue line stop. both run 24 hrs.

One thing I found with the Chicago hotels downtown is that many of them either have no parking or they charge at least $20/day to park there with no in-out priveleges. So, if you'll be driving while you're there, keep this in mind when you book your hotel. Last year, I wound up staying at this place in Melrose Park. It was kinda far from the Empty Bottle (11 miles, I think), but it was right on the street/hwy that North Ave. turns into, which is just a few blocks north of the club. Therefore, it was impossible to get lost going to and from the hotel.

anybody wanna help jeff get a fake id?
Posted: Feb 27, 2006 10:50 pm

I had to miss so many good shows due to no fake ID years ago. Sucks, but I got over it really really fast, and so will you. April, get Quinn to go get an ID and have him wear Jeff's glasses. That might just work, and I'll bet the resemblance would be spectacular.
Posted: Feb 27, 2006 11:04 pm

i only wanna see like 4 of those bands anyway, but still missing teengenerate and the oblivians in 8 month radius suckssss

Air India, you were the cheapest, and I hope I don't get sat next to a cow. Or some chickens. Kevin, save that sofabed!
Posted: Feb 28, 2006 3:10 pm

Guy, when MOTO went to Europe in October 2003, we flew on Air India. It was the cheapest flight (by far) from Chicago to Frankfurt, and the flights there and back were both pleasant. Lots of empty seats, so each of us pretty much had a row of seats to ourselves which made it really easy to sleep. GREAT food, and on the flight back we watched this awesome and ridiculous Bollywood film called "Taarzan the Wonder Car."
Posted: Feb 28, 2006 3:20 pm

I still have a schoolboy's view of Air India - elephants loading the baggage, pilots in tubans and curly shoes, belly dancing as entertainment, piles of satin cushions instead of seats, bongs, sitar music, luggage racks filled with bikes and cages of chickens. beds of nails in the first class sleeping area!
Posted: Feb 28, 2006 3:39 pm

So it's like a Bollywood version of "Soul Plane"? I think this has potential.

Don't even think about not buying advance tix. No matter how many tix will be available at the door, there won't be enough. I tried that route last year. Even though I got in the line more than an hour ahead of time on days 2 and 3, I ended up shut out on both nights, standing out on Western with my mouth hanging open and my thumb up my ass. What a yutz!

"...you see, life is a series of strategically timed blowjobs"
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 7:45 pm

That's what I've told Bill for 3 years now... It's a "strategy" that I'm not giving you blowjobs...It's not because I don't "want" to.
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 8:21 pm

"I don't have to take this... I graduated with a degree from Harvard law!"

"I know. And that's why we expect a very good blowjob."

I have a huge fear that everyone I know is going to turn into "the Monty Python guy" only with Mr. Show quotes until they are 60.
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 8:40 pm

it already happened lisa
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 8:42 pm

Yes, but it becomes infinitely more depressing when it's an old fat guy...come to my library sometime and you can witness it first hand.

may I also add: "lets do it for the bean bag...for the bean bag"
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 8:54 pm

Yeah, I know -- too many indie-types quoting that show, and it's not even that good. But that sketch is fucking hilarious.

Dont get me wrong I LOVE that show... and i quote it too. for the record Halloween Novelty Song Sketch with Dr. Retardo is the most genius thing i think i've ever seen...well besides Jim's chicken dance on Saturday.
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 8:59 pm

nope...the most genius thing was Jim starting the dance & you & Norah chiming in with ones of your own....THAT was high comedy!

I can't believe you didn't mention that said old, fat guy is also greasy, gay and an anglophile with an affinity for affectations.

Thank you, Bill! I was about to post, "What about MY chicken dance!?"
Caw CUH caw!
Posted: Mar 1, 2006 10:30 pm

an affinity for affectations.
Sombody's got a case of the alliterations
Posted: Mar 2, 2006 3:03 am

Get 'em by the case at Costco.

like mayonaise, torellini, and caskets does anyone really need THAT much affection?
Posted: Mar 2, 2006 10:42 pm

Maybe not affection, but definitely affectations.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 4:43 am

Brain! I thing the FB/YOU should play your own show, dooder.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 4:50 am

Does anybody know where there's a schedule for which bands are playing which days? I didn't see it listed on the Empty Bottle site. I can't go to all of 'em, so I'd like to pick a couple of good nights to order tickets for.

Thanks!
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 6:32 am

what day are cheater slicks playing..?

-Sincerely, Impatient.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 6:59 am

I think they're playing Thursday....
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 4:59 pm

Do you know when Obliv/Quintron are playing?
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 5:08 pm

Sorry for asking dumb questions. I just realized that earlier in the thread it says the Oblivians are on Saturday--I must've missed that the first time I read the thread--I was just so excited!!!

Thanks again.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 5:34 pm

shit im gonna have to go to chicago see the C.Slicks, skip a day...then try real hard to see Oblivians. This is a cruel joke!!!!!
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 6:09 pm

I'm not from Chicago, and I've never been to the Empty Bottle--are you allowed to have cameras there? I'd hate to let a show like this go by without getting some photos of it...
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 6:50 pm

You can have cameras inside the Empty Bottle. It's not one of THOSE places.

Arman, I use that much mayonaise. I just don't use it for sandwich making exclusively. Wink wink.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 7:34 pm

Excellent! Thanks, DK.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 7:35 pm

You can't take squids in though
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 7:48 pm

are you allowed to have cameras there?

Good call. Yeah, that happens so infrequently you never see it coming and it's always a hassle when it does...
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 8:07 pm

Yeah, it's just such a pain to have some crappy door guy bitch you and make you take the camera back to the car. Here in Columbus, I think only one or two venues is really uptight about it, but they're lousy places anyway.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 8:39 pm

just hide the camera in your ass if you're that worried.
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 9:50 pm

Can I take a Bratwurst inside the Empty Bottle?
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 10:10 pm

you'll have to hide that in your butt too
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 11:27 pm

wait i missed that...cameras or no...?
Posted: Mar 3, 2006 11:34 pm

YES cameras are fine.
Posted: Mar 4, 2006 12:34 am

no schedule yet? or am i ignorant?...
Posted: Mar 4, 2006 1:38 am

Posted: Mar 4, 2006 1:42 am

Posted: Mar 4, 2006 2:14 am

mmmmm...piiiiickles
Posted: Mar 4, 2006 4:25 am

I don't feel like anyone has raved enough about the specific greatness of this lineup. I suppose we all have out favorites, old and new, with, of course, the marked men being sweeter than honey, but have you ever seen the clone defects, and been dissapointed? I'd have to say, that when the Clone Defects played at the 2002 blackout, that was perhaps one the best rock shows I've ever seen in chicago. what were there, like 75 people there? btw, has any band in the past , i dunno, five years, done a better cover than than the clone defects doing, "that's how strong my love is"?
Posted: Mar 4, 2006 4:41 am

You can't take squids in though

is this a new rule because of timmy vulgar? if you want to bring in a squid, can timmy bring it in for you cuz he's 'grandfathered' for squids?
and he told me it was an octopus... so, could you bring in an octupus, or probably no, right?
Posted: Mar 4, 2006 4:49 am

Bam Bam, just so you know, I'm single.
