Goner Message Board / Memphis / plastic pools
Posted: Oct 6, 2005 9:26 pm
Olive is going to have puppies this week. I need some sort of enclosure to contain the puppies, but that allows olive to get out. A kiddie pool would be perfect, but I haven't been able to find any in stores anymore. Does anyone have one that I can buy off them?
Posted: Oct 6, 2005 9:41 pm
I've got one you can have,
Posted: Oct 6, 2005 9:56 pm | Edited by: hemant
thanks! I'll call you this evening. Goner board saves the day again!
Posted: Oct 6, 2005 10:02 pm
You ain't lyin'. Windy helped me out today!
Posted: Oct 7, 2005 12:56 am
I'm midtown and crosstown bound in about an hour or so. Holler, and I'll swing the thing by. Actually, I might still have your number, too...
Posted: Oct 7, 2005 2:15 am
Can I have that when you're done? Don't bother washing it.
Posted: Oct 10, 2005 5:24 am
The best thing is a box like thing that has a ledge, or lip that sticks out four or five inches from the side, so that the mother can't back up enough to the sides so as to accidentaly smother a pup -yup it does happpen. even just a some two X fours nailed in a post and lental(s.p.?) crude fashon in the pool might prevent some unwanted ickyness.
Posted: Oct 10, 2005 4:13 pm
That is the plan (crude yes), but I am starting the think she is going to pick her own crazy place. We have been trying to keep bedroom doors shut so she dosen't get on a bed. The computer says her due date is today, so they should be born this week! Wish us luck, we need it.
Posted: Oct 10, 2005 7:25 pm
Good luck! Puppies are fun.

Hey luteinizer, seeing as how you are a coroner and such, I was wondering the feasibility of "Weekend at Bernie's."
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 4:37 am
Especially Part II.
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 2:47 pm
Drowning puppies. You bastard!
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 2:52 pm
I can't attest for the feasibilty...but what a ROMP!
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 4:45 pm
The feasibility of zombies, hmm.
If one of the puppies dies we could experiment. What song do you want to use?
Unfortunatelly decomposition occurs quickly especially in hotter temps, that will be a draw back. Bernie never seemed to decompose, maybe a diet high in presevatives?
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 4:48 pm
I don't think watsons has kiddy pools at this time of year, but Jack Stands came to the rescue, and Olive seems to be getting in it now that it has newspapper and blankets in it.

And as a side note we are not putting water in the pool, it is to keep placenta and birth off the floor. If you want I can save some in a bucket and throw it on the crowd during the rockening.
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 4:52 pm
last note: I am not a coroner, I just spent five years hacking up dead people, besides coroners are usually not even doctors, they are elected officials often funeral personel. And TN has a Medical Examiner system, not a coroner system.

just don't want people to get the wrong impression
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 6:47 pm
i don't want to get placenta in my hair-don't.
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 7:26 pm
it is good for your hair, they sell that stuff in high dollar salons
Posted: Oct 12, 2005 9:43 pm
its a boy....or maybe a girl! I can't tell
Posted: Oct 13, 2005 3:48 am
Posted: Oct 13, 2005 5:14 pm
Aww! What kind are they? The momma looks german shep. That one pupp looks like he wants to nurse off your weird looking nipple.
Posted: Oct 13, 2005 5:31 pm
its a boy....or maybe a girl! I can't tell

We need to have a little talk, hemant...

Those puppies are cuter than a bug with buttons.
Posted: Oct 14, 2005 3:01 am
all german shepards
over 24 hours and everone is still doing well
Posted: Oct 14, 2005 4:13 am
congrats, Mary & Hemant!!!
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 6:09 pm
Well guys, we have some sad sad news. After many hours of sleeplessness and struggle one of the puppies did not survive. Rather than dwell on what we have lost, we have been trying to keep the other puppy fat, happy, and completely spoiled. We have been sucessful so far, he has almost doubled his size and he is eating for twelve. The saddest past is he is Wednesday he will be one week old and he is still without a name. So, if anyone has any good names throw them out. It needs to be good, since he is the only one.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 6:11 pm
sorry got a phone call at work there and didn't proof read
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 7:23 pm
Sorry to hear that.

Name him "Leftovers".
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 7:34 pm
sorry to hear about the puppy.

Call your survivor pup Solo (short for solamente)
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:14 pm
Ree Ree
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:17 pm
It has to be shorter than leftovers, Hemants mom going to take him and she wants a name that she can say fast. Besides he is the survivor, not the left over.

Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:18 pm
Shasta makes me think shasta McNasty
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:19 pm
HaHa, scraps, I will personally kick you in the ass for that low blow
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:19 pm
We could shorten tugboat to tugs, that might be cute
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:20 pm
I deserve it. Sorry 'bout the pup, though. Seriously.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:22 pm
We were messing around and thought Mike Juniper Gupta, or MJG. (Hemants mom came up with juniper)
Cartoon names are good too, we have Astro and Olive Oil, and we did think about scrappy, but that would have had to be the other ones name if he had lived, he was the small one
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:22 pm

i suggested this name to my best friend back in boston when his wife gave birth to their son in august. he declined.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 8:24 pm
Well I would not name a kid tugboat, but this puppy does look like a fat tugboat
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 9:31 pm
Thor, Lord, Yahweh, Jehova, Zeus, or Burrito.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 9:33 pm
Cartoon names are good too,

say it like the dog does: Rastro!
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 9:38 pm
Well I would not name a kid tugbo

trust me, if the kid takes after his dad it would've been perfect.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 9:41 pm
if you name him Tugboat, his nickname could be Lil Toot!

I vote for Attila, but that's what Sam & Katherine wanna name their baby...
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 9:42 pm
what about Elroy or Mr Spaceley? or Bluto?????
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:09 pm
We thought about Bluto.

Astro knows he is getting good pets when he gets called Rastro, he rolls over for you to scratch his belly and grins. He probably thinks his name is Rastro, he responds better anyway.

Isn't atilla a girls name?
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:09 pm
I like Burrito
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:11 pm
that one pup...weird nipple

What? Are you talking about Hemants nipples? Explain yourself.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:14 pm
Isn't atilla a girls name?

I am shocked by this, lute. SHOCKED!

Also, I like Roofie...
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:19 pm

Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:26 pm
Lance Armstrong,
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:29 pm
MY BAD I GET HIM AND JOAN OF ARK CONFUSED! I got my degree in Anthropology not History, and I went to Memphis City Schools give me a break. I still think Attila sounds girly even if he was crazy feared.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:30 pm
Not any of these....
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:31 pm
balzac come on this is a family dog, although if you have seen astros balls, it might be appropriate
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:32 pm
I'm kind of leaning towards MIFA...
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:32 pm
besides what I lack in historical knowledge, I make up for in Chemistry
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:32 pm
Fluffy is an all-purpose dog name. We had a Doberman named Fluffy. Or is that too ironic?
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:33 pm
I don't know about MIFA, he is going to be a kept dog.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:34 pm
Cuddles would be a great name for a Mastiff...
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:34 pm
what about caesar? or one of the other roman emperors like nero???
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:34 pm
Not Caligula....
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:35 pm
Nero is good, I like that
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:35 pm
good strong name
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:36 pm
Caligula, I don't think I can even say that
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:37 pm
Not Bubbles, either...
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 10:52 pm
Nico McBrain....
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 11:01 pm
Yor, The Hunter From The Future
The Bull
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 11:29 pm | Edited by: andria
Eric, there can't be two "The Bull"s

Nero is good bc you can also reference the crime lit/TV detective Nero Wolfe!
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 11:44 pm
hemant, are you keeping the puppy? I love your dogs and I want one.
Posted: Oct 17, 2005 11:50 pm
also, I would name it "Tron"
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 3:00 pm
I'm gonna call my monkey Chester Meridian but you can use it too if you want.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 4:53 pm
Erica's dog is named Chester, won't work, but nice name.
I have a friend whose dog is named Jasper Alabama, great name

We think Hemants mom is going to take the puppy, sorry. We have to see if it lives before we can give it to anyone. Raising puppy sucks. He can't bloody tell you what the hell is wrong.

I think Nero got axed.

Nico won't work, that is Alicjas dogs name.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 4:55 pm
I think its pretty fab that you all respect other people's dog's names and don't duplicate them. In the dog park here where my friend lives, there are about 6 dogs named Shelby. That's my friend's dog's name too.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 5:07 pm
I actually dreamt about the dog last night. I have no idea why you guys named it "Fireball".

Other names I've been kicking around...
Bottle cap,

More from the Not list,
Fluff 'ems,
Telephone Book,
Customer Service (I still like Helpdesk, though)...
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 5:10 pm
ned flanders
turkey baster
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 6:05 pm
What about Augustus and calling him Augie, like augie doggy and doggy daddy.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 6:22 pm
Cartoon names are good too, we have Astro and Olive Oil,

I'va actaull been planning on a puppy named Olive for a long time. It's real sweet.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 6:34 pm
i believe i'll fuck this link up but this may be my dog. if the link is in fact fucked up just copy and paste, please.

he's a good little monkey. i miss him.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 6:52 pm
your link sent me to myspace login page
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 6:54 pm

or maybe it's

i didn't make the profile for him, his mom did.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 7:00 pm
That is the freakin cutest thing I have ever seen.
All of those little dogs are so cute.
Before hemant and I moved in together I had a chi/terrier mix, she is a doll, her name is Abby.
Most well behaved dog ever. She would freak out at all those dogs.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 7:04 pm
Oh I didn't just totally ditch her, she lives with my parents and they make her happy and fat. We didn't think two german shepards could stand not eating her.
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 7:09 pm
linus hates most other dogs except for chi's. apparently they are clannish and can recognize each other as being from the same breed. i miss that little guy very much. he's such a good friend. plus talking to an empty apartment seems that much more insane without the plausible excuse of "i was talking to the dog."
Posted: Oct 18, 2005 7:30 pm
I am sorry I don't know your story so I don't know why you are not with your dog, but I can empathize about being separated from your dog. Abby was my first dog, I got her in college, she rocks. She is such a good companion. And great to cuddle with. It is quite different from having big dogs. I do love Astro and Olive, but they don't have the same cuddle factor.
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 1:42 am
more pics!

he is a growing fast!

I like "Thor". That was actually Astro's dads name.
I've always wanted to name a dog "Furry Lewis".
Doggie Ramone?

I've got to run all these names past my mom. She's already claimed him, and has a weird requirement that any name must be easy to holler.

I need a drink...i haven't been out since he was born...
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 3:15 am
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 3:20 pm
Damn Hemant he is only one week old today.
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 3:44 pm
If you name him Tugboat his nickname would be Tug, like Tug McGraw. NOT lil toot, andria. And that is easy for your mom to shout, Hemant. She could also easily shout Cougar, Fang or Cobra. So I say stick with one of those, rather than some loser name.
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 3:46 pm
what about:
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 3:57 pm
not pusley, pugsley
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 4:02 pm

Posted: Oct 19, 2005 4:05 pm
stubby clap
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 4:07 pm
he looks like ash. you should name him ash.
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 4:23 pm
ughh...right now i'm leaning towards "whiny bitch"
this little guy never shuts up
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 4:40 pm
HE ate around 7:30
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 5:02 pm
but he's soooooooo cute!

what about Bonzi??? or Bonzo???

or Plato or Argo (Odysseus's dog) -- good Greek names, perfect for the son of Olive Oyl!
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 5:54 pm
I like Argo, that might be a good one.
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 6:28 pm
what about Arcas
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 9:12 pm
I also like "Wellfare"...
Posted: Oct 19, 2005 9:26 pm
again do you even know how freakin' spoiled our dogs are?
Posted: Oct 20, 2005 6:50 pm
dang, i want a puppy like a million times more now. too adorable!
Posted: Oct 20, 2005 7:42 pm
Hemant, we want more fat puppy pictures!!!!
Posted: Oct 20, 2005 9:08 pm
is this fat enough? if we had a bamboo backdrop we could pass him off as a panda

Posted: Oct 20, 2005 10:22 pm
I can't wait to get home and scratch that belly.
Posted: Oct 20, 2005 10:23 pm
I think he needs a halloween costume
