Or, as my father referred to him, "Kee...Uh...Lee"
Posted: Jan 20, 2004 11:57 pm
Is that because he was...DUMB AS ROCKS?

He did better on the ACT than Penny Hardaway who had to sit out a semester for not being able to score above an...uh...11.

West Memphis High beats Treadwell High in the academic dept. Right.

No love for Bobby Parks! The best all around baller ever in Cusa! Would have been an nba legend if he hadn't blown his knee out in his last college game.

Please enlighten me to the thrill of Bobby Parks. Can't find nothin nowhere...you are right, no love.

He was my role model in high school--6'6" forward during the glory years '81-'85. He was a lot like Battier except he could jump better, shoot better, & pass better. His defense was the best & he always came through when they needed a key bucket, steal, or dunk. Ended up playing in the Phillippines, I think, since his knee got blown out. Unlike Keith Lee & most Tigers (ie Bedford), he worked his ass off & would have been a great pro since he had all the tools, the work ethic, & the body.

By the way, the worst individual torching I ever saw happen to the Tigers was by a big dude from Louisiana Tech named Karl Malone. He lit Memphis State up for about 35 and almost single handedly beat one of the best teams in the country. I was not surprised to see Malone do great in the pros! What a stud!

Bobby Parks was great - definitely the unsung hero of the Tiger glory years in the 80's. If he hadn't gotten hurt there was no way that Villanova beats us in the Final Four - we had the best starting 5: Keefus Lee, Bedford, Parks, Doom Haynes, Andre Turner (all locals, Calipari! Speaking of, did anyone see Scooter McFadgon light up Kentucky for 33 last night? Thanks fer running him off, dipshit).

I'm sure Calipari "wishes him well." Hey, memphis state's got a "national program" now that is on a new level--a win at Tulane is big news. I don't blame any Memphis high school kid who doesn't want to play here any more. Who would want to be coached by that guy?

Are you sure Bedford was on that team? I don't remember him playing with Keith Lee! Maybe as a freshman? Those were the days--Bedford busted for driving an alum's jag and a shoebox full of money gets you to the final four!

Hell yeah, he was on that team - twin towers!

Scooter is leading the SEC in scoring, and he's one of the best free throw shooters in the country (if not the best)...

Was Baskerville Holmes that era? He had to be...I remember him working at the Arcade next to the Highland Malco when I was in early high school...tragic dude.

I wanna see B. Holmes and K. Lee jerseys being rocked when I am back in MEM the first week of June!!!!

Eww, Baskerville--the original stromile leaper! Sad story. I think he was the tiger who ended up killing himself (& maybe his galfriend), broke & crazy in a frayser apt. about 6 years back. Not a happy ending for a very popular dude in tiger history.

Just heard on am radio that dave woloshin was one of the nominators for this poll. No wonder! Him & vitale are the only 2 who seem to think Calipari is a good coach in this country.

the team was announced tonight....

F-mark aguirre, depaul
F-clyde drexler, houston
C-akeem olajuwon, houston
G-penny hardaway
G-darrell griffith, louisville

kind of hard to argue against any of them. they brought up Kee..uh..Lee as one that could of made it. no mention of sherman's boy bobby parks.

Baskerville Holmes was some kind of rescue dog with ESP, right?

Andy, I'd laugh if that guy was still alive, and, hey, I laughed anyway, but seriously...yeah, he was the guy who shot his girl and himself in '97. Does anyone know wha happen (i.e. details)?
