Nobody seems to be worried about this?

Nah. God's will be done, and I don't live in a flood plain. As far as I know.

There is way too much development so close to the Wolf River. There was spillover into the 75 year floodplain that is now the Deli Mexicana parking lot last week, and that was with all of the flood engineering to channel overflow onto the south bank by the bridge. Much of the area that received protected status in the 1980's has been gobbled up via eminent domain and greedy rezoning.

So....?
Posted: May 6, 2011 1:50 pm

Should be a crestin May 9th through the 10th.
This is going to bad.
Blowing the levee may not have been the best idea.
The people I'm really worried about is the folks in New Orleans.
That's going to be another shit show.....

New Spain should be o.k., except for Covington pike to Jefferson along 240. It gets worse as you go west to Frayser.

p.s, I thought for sure that whole, Summer/White Station/Sycamore View/240 fly-over area was going to get screwed, but it doesn't appear to be so. We'll see.
Going to ride the greenline today and this weekend to look for changes.

my dad told me today that there is seepage in a levee near marion. if that thing fails, his house is going to be filled with water.

I'm going out to take pics tomorrow (Monday). Got Tom Lee and Watkins and 51 on the list. Any other real wet spots that y'all know about?
Will they let you over the AC Willis bridge to Harbortown?

I hope everyone makes it through this ok. I have an old bass boat with a trolling motor if any goners get stuck on top of their roof. I'll be heading up their quicker than you can say "sean penn"

scary how it seems like nothing out of the ordinary is happening in E/V. You drive 1 or 2 blocks north and BOOM, churches underwater and flood gates quarantining neighborhoods.

I'll be in Memphis the 24th-29th. PM me or something if there's any cleanup volunteering needed or things of the sort.

How highs the water mama???!!!

Question: assuming the water stays for days/weeks, is this going to become a public health concern? I'm specifically thinking mosquito-spread illnesses, pollution sickness, maybe even cholera and illnesses of that ilk. Combined with Memphis heat in June, it seems like the worst of it will be down the line.
