Goner Message Board / Memphis / Worst Memphis Talk Radio Show
Posted: Apr 9, 2010 12:17 pm

Dan Wolken seems to have been specifically chosen for his ability to drive railroad spikes through my eyeballs with only his voice.

These people are writers for a reason.

what channel, what time?

The only radio I listen to is talk, and I could have sworn the Craig Ferguson show on AM600 was the worst.

Ben Ferguson

I stand corrected.
Got my talkshow hosts mixed up.

Al Franken
He was the worst, but he got canceled.

Harry and Dan have chemistry issues, maybe. The show is a little dry.

Also, Dan borrowed a pen from me once at a Tigers game . . . didn't return it.

Thaddeus Matthews is the best!!!

There is a shakeup at the morning show on WREC...if they had any balls they'd try to skew this thing about 40 years younger than it is...do something hip in the mornings....it's terrible right now....and Ferguson is worthless...mini Rush without the radio sense
Posted: Apr 10, 2010 9:36 am

I don't mind the content on Wolken's show, but I hear your complaint. My favorite is Morning Rush--Peter Edminson is hilarious.

I love it when they voice opinionated comments.
Biggest nerds ever!!!
The American Idol banter makes me wince with embarrassment.

Ben Ferguson is an arrogant, antagonistic, bastard.
And that's about as deep as it gets, but he's still entertaining.

Kind of, almost?

I think more of us listen to talk radio than we care to admit...therefore I think we should be represented on the airwaves....Shit Talk 600 WREC radio...Ross the Boss Johnson in the morning!!!

Ross the Boss Johnson

Excellent idea. Maybe with Msr. Evans. And special guests appearing all the time.

In general, I am confused when print journalists get talk radio shows without having the credentials to do so, other than writing about what they are talking about. This seems to be a really big phenomenon in Memphis.

Maybe Wendy Thomas could have her own talk show.

Thaddeus Matthews is the best!!!

A good friend swears up and down this is the best show in town.

But now that scott sais it too, i guess i'll have to check it out.

It's fuckin' awesome!

Nothing beats Bobby O' Jay on 1070 WDIA... especially when they open the phonelines to everyone from 9 to 10AM.
Posted: Apr 12, 2010 11:33 am

Those people that regularly call in for Bobby O'Jay also call back for the Bev Johnson show afterward, and then they call into Thaddeous Matthews in the afternoon. If I knew which lunchtime show they called in to I'd listen to that too. Lil Daddy's my favorite!

memorable line form today's Dan Wolken show, about MissState basketball coach:
"He's not the world's greatest coach [pause]
in the world."
Posted: Apr 12, 2010 3:55 pm

LOVE the bobby o'jay show.
Posted: Apr 13, 2010 11:52 am

I can't even read the name Bobby O'Jay without putting the emphasis on "O" and having the voice in my head go up and octave.
Posted: Apr 13, 2010 12:47 pm

Mike Fleming was and Thaddeus Matthews is becoming the worst after a really strong start. His show has become too unconfused and narcissistic for me to listen for more than 10 minutes.

I was listening to am600 at work Wednesday, and a co worker said that I shouldn't be listening to "that crazy talk show".

What are you liberals scared of.

I was secretly offended.

Yesterday's Dan Wolken show had a KILLER quote from a caller that (1) they didn't even laugh at and (2) they blew the guy off.

The topic was the scumbag Melrose hoops coach and his insertion of himself in the goings-on for the recruiting of Adonis Thomas. A guy called in and said (ahem):

"Mane, anyone coulda coached that Melrose squad! The Logo for Jack Pirtle's coulda coached that team to the State Championship!"
Posted: Apr 24, 2010 11:17 am

nice.

I love that AM600 goes from Michael Savage to Art Bell at night. Cuckoo!
Posted: Apr 24, 2010 12:32 pm

Michael Savage is nuts, and one of my favorites.
The shouting in the microphone is pretty funny.

Were scared of angry right wing militias stopping us from transforming the US into a socialist country. STOP LISTENING!

She had no idea what Goldman Sachs is, why I found their insurance "ethics" to be interesting, and probably wouldn't understand even if I drew a picture for her.

All she "understands" is that if I listen to AM600 it will turn me into an evil republican, under their hypnotic mind control.

It's secretly funny to me when leftists feign objectivity, or openmindedness.

Art Bell is hardly ever on; it's that douchebag George Noory. I kind of like the new guy on the weekends, though. He'll kind-of call bullshit on folks like Art used to.

Michael Savage is nuts, and one of my favorites.
He's great.

I miss Drudge. Too funny when folks would call in accusing him of being a "homasexshul" and the evidence was his bumper music. Can't stand the "great american" fucker they replaced him with. Hannity blowjobs all Sunday night.

Right? It's close to gold & Wolken and the crew just blew right over it...any sports radio talk host worth their salt woulda grabbed that and ran.

I think it makes him more interesting to listen to

Hey....Maybe they can only relate to the Burger King.

The Drudge show was great. He'd go off on 15-minute tangents rambling about "Bono" or "Sumner Redstone."

The Drudge show was great.

Even better were the Hillary montages. "I loved Arkansas..."
