Apparently Michael Dickerson retired from Grizzlies today. Too bad, he could play when he could walk. I don't feel to sorry for him though, retired at 28 with 42 mil in his pocket - oughta pay for a diamond-encrusted wheelchair...

the bryant reeves disease... what's up with the grizz and injured players with big contracts? is this that common in the nba?

all said, though, i'm glad we don't have to worry about him coming back. now we can concentrate on the team we've got. and how we're gonna get out of the first round of the playoffs.

What else is happening in the East? You guys are in that bracket right? I think you guys are fairly stacked.

Like that optimism Eric! You already got us in the playoffs...If they can win 13-15 road games this year, they got an outside shot. But they won 3 all of last season, I think...

Re: Mike D. I'm glad he retired too, now we don't have to cut anybody else. So, who's yer candidates for the IR? Mine: Humphreys, Theron Smith, Dante Jones (when's the last time we had guys on the IR that can actually play??!)

Espn says grizzlies only 7th worst team in league! http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking

I say they are the best 6'8" team in the world.

Since Jerry can't seem to get a big man in 17 months, he could earn some of his salary by getting their ass in the east division. (Hello, Nba, memphis ain't exactly west coast--we're the dirty south.) If that happens, then he gets my g.m. of the year award...

If he can't get 'em into an eastern conference, what say we form a 6'8" league & under? (Who do we propose this to? Logan Young? Bill Gates?) We could still use the coliseum like the rockers did and we probably could still get a refund on the forum.

The major problem with the rockers was the height limit was 6' 4". If they got it up 4" higher to 6'8", I think there would be much broader fan support. It would also keep out stiffs like that George ? what's his name (Lurch looking dude), Sean Bradley and Manute Bol, for sure.

shawn "i got blocked by 6'0 Earl Watson" Bradley?

we might not be huge, but we're solid. i think we're gonna wear out a lot of teams without a good 2nd team. shut down/limit the superstars, and make the rest of their teams play like they ain't used to. it'll work.

i don't know who goes on IR, but damn, Humphries can jump. smitty can ball, and dante can shoot. maybe troy bell just for rookie razzing.

Muresan, Sherm. I think Big Jake could MAYBE take him in a footrace...

Jug's Grizz depth chart:
1. J-Will, Watson, Bell
2. Posey, Person, Jones
3. Miller, Battier, Theron
4. Pau, Stro, Humphries
5. Ren, Jake, Outlaw

Yeah, it sucks we can't play all these guys! But after Humphries, who ya gonna leave out? I don't see how ya can put Outlaw on the IR. And ya gotta have Bell, in case Jwill or Watson gets hurt (for a back-up PG). What's amazing is that this is finally a problem!

espn.com lists the Grizz as a potential surprise team primarily due to depth. NBA really needs another realignment. Maybe after the new Charlotte franchise starts playing. Memphis really needs to be in the same division as New Orleans.

And what the hell, why don't we let the new league use the trampolines too? Looks good on tv and I'm sure the fans will love the 3-d effect. I might even break out the chicken suit if they need a mascot.

I am convinced that Grizz will surprise...in a positive way.

Anyone catch the latest rounds of Kobe-Shaq bitchin'? I hate those fuckers, look at their team and what are they doing...complaining.

Jesus, Kobe laid some bombs on Shaq today. Before this, their bickering had always been at least a little civil. I don't see how they can even be on the floor together after this. If they do patch it up, everybody'll be praising the "masterful job" done by the "zen-like" Phil Jackson - give me a break...

It says here (and everywhere else) if Kobe's not in jail, he's on the Grizz next year.

I just read some blurb that if he bolts, he'd go for the Clips.

But, the man will be going to jail.

"To reach the 12-player roster limit, the team placed rookies Dahntay Jones (left ankle sprain), Theron Smith (sore right knee) and Ryan Humphrey (concussion) on the injured list."

you was right, jug...

but those guys are ready to go.

Well, I hope they can make room down the road for Jones and Theron - I'd like to see them play...

I saw some of the Lakers game last night. Jesus, they are scary good, and Bryant didn't even play. No wonder Shaq's tryin' to drive him out of town.

Also saw the Spurs, and they looked awful even though they beat the Suns - who had the game and should have won. Hey Eric, Trybanski got in that game (how hurting are the Suns for bigs?) and he looked hopelessly lost in the 3 mins he played. He was so overmatched that they brought Penny in to replace him. Also, the commentators were raving about their new rookie Cabarkapa, whom Jerry passed on (and for good reason), but he looked like Trybanski, only shorter and skinnier. He made one shot, and turned it over about half a dozen times and guarded NOBODY! I've been reading all summer how this guy was the steal of the draft, but I didn't see it...

Had to do a bunch of bullshit last night...Anyone see LeBron James?...or is that tonight?

Tonight we see LeBron go up against Les Kings.

I will be watching the Blazers against the Mormons collection of black men.

I can't believe the Lakers, yikes. I am glad I didn't watch. I heard that Dallas is bending over backwards to get Sabonis, who can only stop Shaq for about 3 minutes a game but he is effective, I've seen it. He is a sick passer.
