Goner Message Board / Memphis / I'm opening for the One Four Fives??!! HiTone Fri. Feb 27

Go Figure. So I'm showing prints at the HiTone Friday Feb 27 prior to and during the One Four Fives show. The pics and I will be there starting at 8PM. I'll be the guy at the bar with a paste on beret and goatee swilling whiskey and trying to persuade you to get naked for the camera. One Four Fives will be the dudes tearing it up on stage. They'll be there at the usual time.

Photo show is Bands and Buildings (B&B). Pictures from the mostly recent history of Midtown Rock and from glimpses of the Memphis urban landscape. There will be pics not only of JPK, Harlan, Jack, NTJ, Monsieur Jeffrey Evans, and the Barbaras; but also of Skateland, Atomic Pest Control, Lot-a-Burger, Billar San Marcos, Auto Engine Center, and, yes, the Old Sears Tower pic made infamous by the last, ultra rare, Jay Reatard 7". Band pics are for show; building pics for sale.

Show up early and stay late. The more you drink the better the pictures will look. (Experience tells me the One Four Fives don't need no help.)

Tell me how great I am and I promise to tell you how great your taste is.

Will you play Picture Book by the Kinks?
How about Kodachrome by Paul Simon?
Close your set with Ringo's Photograph.

Freeze Frame by the J. Geils Band?
Posted: Feb 20, 2009 11:25 am

Pictures of You by The Cure?
I Turn My Camera On by Spoon?
the Picture Pages theme song?
Girls on Film by Duran Duran?

and don't forget "dirty pictures" by radio stars

I can't believe nobody has said "Photograph" by Def Leppard.

And "People Take Pictures of Each Other" by the Kinks. (That's TWO Kinks songs about pictures).

And "Flash Cube" by Jack O!

Polaroid Portrait by 68 Comeback? But I'd come prepared for Flock of Seagulls' Wishing.

flash cube is my personal photo-oriented fave song and i heart jack forever for playing it when i had my second picture show at goner, halloween 2007 but i thank adam woodard even more for being the one in the band who launched into the song when i requested it.

that said.... JP - i bet the one four fives could cover that... bring jack up to sing? i mean... ain't whittemore the crucial part of the guitar part???

wish i could be there

more likely: "Tit Photographer's Blues" by The Fabulous Poodles.

Photography-themed flier here!

Oh, and TK...Because Whit is such a crucial part of Flash Cube, I've never had to learn the song!

JP- you're one excellent song short of being the crucial memphis human jukebox

i just realize it is possible i could actually attend this show...

Show went better than I ever hoped or imagined. Thanks to everyone who came out. HiTone & One Four Fives too cool for going above and beyond.

Dude, I knew yall couldn't get enough of my merkin. Glad Bob didn't bring it up in the write up. Should've nailed it to the wall and auctioned it off to anyone who was actually expecting to see some ART.
