you can find out about us here....
we just played the portland bender which elicited this response from one goner....
"THEE HEADLINERS-tight with a stomp"

WILLAMETTE WEEK [November 14th, 2007] "Wearing its influences proudly, from pre-rock Americana’s folk and country roots to ’60s soul; from jazz and murder ballads to garage rock, the band’s sound is like a snowball effect of the past 90 years of American music"all rolled into one distortion-heavy package."-AP KRYZA ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------ THE BUG NASTIES, THE HEADLINERS, THE FAST TAKERS, TROGLODYTES (Slabtown, 1033 NW 16th) Portland Mercury 12/08- My friend once brilliantly described Thee Headliners as a garage band who should have performed at the Lobo Lounge"the fictional small-town dive bar from the hit '90s sitcom Roseanne. Imagine Thee Headliners' star rising amid a sea of blow-dried bangs, handlebar mustaches, plenty of flannel, and only two types of domestic beer in brown bottles. However, from a musical standpoint, such an association between Roseanne's theme song and Thee Headliners has probably been heavily influenced by member Hamburger Chubs' unruly use of a harmonica. Meanwhile, Holly Morgan and Jeremy Terry sound like a whiskey bar waltz between Johnny Cash and June Carter as they double-fist their vice of heartache while crooning lines like: "You gotta be shit-faced/When you tell me you love me." EM BROWNLOWE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- "What do Portland's all-sorts-of-Americana trio Thee Headliners, local vampiric soul-stomp rockers Oblivian Seekers and Seattle dirty beatnik fist-pumpers Sugarsmacks all have in common? Between the three, they cover the spectrum of American rock from country to punk to rockabilly, doo-wop, soul, surf and beyond, each band filtering sounds through gothic, distortionist and revisionist sieves. The common link is the garage roots of each act. With all three on the bill, expect to be shaken when the familiar takes on a completely fresh, sometimes frightening perspective." AP KRYZA-Willamette Week 1/09 Twilight Cafe and Bar, 9pm. 3$ 21+ SATURDAY JAN.17TH 2009 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------- PORTLAND MERCURY 2/5/09 a highlight from the BENDER COMETH... "FRIDAY: THEE HEADLINERS -- Remember: You're going to need to pace yourself this weekend. But it won't be easy with Thee Headliners flying full throttle on opening night. Portland's finest, hoarsest practitioners of rockabilly goon-punk, Thee Headliners are too dirty to play smart and too smart to play dirty. So as they frenetically crash through song after song, remember to keep control-only one beer at a time; after all, you've got the whole weekend to get through, and you don't want to spend all of your energy and drink money at once....Aw, too late. Fuck it. Bender only comes once a year!" -NL
