Hello! Myself and three friends are making a long drive down to Memphis to see Guitar Wolf on Tuesday. We're also going to be in town on Monday, and I was wondering if anything's going on that night? Like, what's a good bar to hang around in? Is there any karaoke?? Thanks in advance for any help, and I'll see you at the show!

There's some funky dj's at the young ave deli, they play soul and grrrage, and there's karaoke at the madison flame and yosemite sams but I don't really reccomend any of things to you but you might have fun. The only bar worth visiting in Mem is the Buccaneer, it's a pirate themed bar on Monroe and Cleveland, they have pinball which is hard to come by in Mremphuph.

what about the machine at the laundromat next to pho ho binh?

Roller Coaster Tycoon, is not a challenge for a pinball titan such as myself, I usually get at least 3 free games...I think they have funhouse at the washeteria next to Deez bugahs.

That Jillians place downtown is like 4 or 5 floors of so called arcade and they don't have a single pinball machine, someone needs to write a letter, maybe it should be me.

Ms.Bobby(next to Deez) got rid of the Funhouse machine a while ago.I got high score and sent that machine off to Shattered city.

i'm pretty sure there's ONE pinball machine in Jillian's... can't remember what it is.

not as much fun as the anti-yakuza game where the character on-screen mirrors your body actions... ducking and diving... wore this sucker out.

Re: Hidden Frayser Arcade. There used to be. I don't know if it is still around - I went looking for it recently, to no avail. That doesn't mean that it is closed. I could have been lost. It was a converted 7-11 storefront of some sort. There were A LOT of pinball machines there, but the place is also a full service arcade. They had Phoenix, which is my all time favorite video game.

Rumor has it that the true pinball wizeardos in Memphis venture into the depths of the Mall Of Murder(Memphis) to a place called the Gold Mine.

someone needs to open up a rock and roll arcade. With late 70's eairly 80's video and pinball-also serving beer, BBQ, as well as having rock bands preform wile racking up high scores and heartburn mixed with thrash and thunder. A place that is truly holy,

beats bowling! That shit's for the retired crowd and i-ronic college kids.

If somebody'd open a rocknroll arcade I would move to Memphis in a heartbeat! Damn, I'd move into the arcade!

But only if they had "Joust".

Posted: Mar 9, 2003 1:35 am
I also think that it should have Guns and Roses pinball and Air Hockey and the Simpsons arcade game and karaoke. Maybe we could remodel the buccaneer and make it like 3 floors of pirate themed mayhem.

Problem wth the R'n'Rcade (fuck that would be a good name iffin you coud do it, but I'm gonna tell you right now why you can't)...There's this cat in town named Tim Arnold you might have read about in Multiball. The dude has more fucking pinball machines than anybody in the world. A couple times a year he opens up to the public for a night a free play. The first time I was there I realized that place already had the perfect soundtrack...have you ever heard 800 plus pinball machines being played simultaneously? It's really fucking cool.
Posted: Mar 9, 2003 7:07 am
Joust rules!!! Thats the one with the flying ostriches and you hafta get these eggs, right? I don't think a pirate themed arcade would be good either. Ninja themed on the other hand would be sweeeeeeet. You could play Shinobi all night.
Posted: Mar 9, 2003 7:24 am
Yes I've read the Multiball article, what city does he live in again? I'd love to see that. I wonder if he has one of my personal fav's Heavy Metal Meltdown, where the machine makes squealing metal guitar noises.
Posted: Mar 9, 2003 9:19 am
VEGAS, BABY!!! He lives about 15 minutes from my house and I just heard he is doing the night again real soon. I'm sure he has the metal machine, but don't forget: the best guitar sqeals ever are not made by pinball machines or even the Cheater Slicks, but by ninjas...did I use the colon correctly?

I thought you were the school teacher.
Posted: Mar 15, 2003 12:46 am
I am. Today I'm at my neighborhood elementary school. It's hat day. I got a fez chillin' up on my dome.
Posted: Mar 15, 2003 12:48 am
yer point is...?
Posted: Mar 15, 2003 12:49 am
Oh, the colon...I was just testin' y'all.
Posted: Mar 18, 2003 5:34 pm
Hey, we had hat day the other day as well, in honor of Dr. Seuss; and, we had tie day the week before that. I work at an elementary school as well.

Dude, yer goin' ta HELL!!!

Sometimes it feels like I'm going to hell walking into an elementary school monday morning past all the "be drug free posters" and anti-smoking posters hungover from a weekend of boozing. It's like living a double life. I think I'm one of the few of the staff that drinks, much less stays up past 10. Lots of good lookin' women teachers but they're all married. They're all nice and the kids are for the most part cool.
Posted: Mar 21, 2003 3:30 am
Apparently there are lots of teachers who dig rock n' roll.
Posted: Mar 21, 2003 5:37 pm
I know. It makes me wonder what kind of wild stuff my teachers did in the late 70's / early 80's when I was elementary age...on weekends they were probably smoking a little pot and listening to Police records.

I was in sixth grade in 1987/1988. The guy that inspired me to become a teacher made my class read an article in People about Sting hanging out with a bunch of Native South Americans trying to save the rain forest. You might be more right than you know!
Posted: Mar 23, 2003 12:52 pm
Talbot's all about saving the Rain Forrest.

Man, one occupational hazard though is the PINK EYE, which I have had all week, and thus been away from my computer. I think it's gone now.

Hmmm, I too am an alchie high school teacher with pink eye this week- are you my doppelganger or am I really Talbot when I'm drunk?
Posted: Mar 31, 2003 6:14 pm
Man, the Pink Eye is tough isn't it? I'm so glad it's gone. As to the question of the doppelganger, it may explain the feeling of being possessed that I get occasionally.
Posted: Apr 2, 2003 8:10 am
besides pink eye, spring is really tough on teachers- oh, all that skin... so close, yet... somebody call a cop
Posted: Apr 2, 2003 11:44 pm
I can't believe you guys have dat much of a pink eye problem from dem youg'uns...dey jus' be givin' me dose cooties.
Posted: Apr 2, 2003 11:55 pm
Pink eye is not so bad because they make you stay at home and you don't really feel that bad, except for your eyes, but it's not like you're throwing up with sinus headaches and feelin' like shit. So, it's kind of like a little vacation.
