I do believe that I may be spending a few days in Memphis during the Labor Day weekend. I will most likely be in the area know as "midtown", with car, but just as likely without.
I am just curious if any one can recomend any places to enjoy some good pork products of the pulled/barbequed/smothered/etc.. variety. Actually any good food recomendations other than pork would be welcomed as well. Anything else I should see in that area?...

La Espiga has a great and cheap Mexican bakery. The food is not as good as La Guadalupana though.

Thanks!
Got my tickets yesterday. Will keep those spots in mind. How's the walking factor in that area. I will be without a car. Probably on foot or possibly skateboard. My base will be at the Ramada Inn on Union & Mclean. It seems like it is close to some stuff...

lamplighter, shangri-la, hattley's garage (go visit scott rogers in action), old zinnies for boozin', all pretty close. plus the nautically-themed bar at andertons!

keep in mind also that it's gonna be around 95 and humid like a greenhouse so you're not gonna wanna go too far either on foot or by skateboard. hitch a ride on some bird-sized mosquitoes and they'll tow you around town.

To the bar then! Damn the skateboards! Is anything happening on Monday night? I gotta stay over that night to get the cheap flight. I think everyone I know will be heading out Monday day or eve. Gotta find something to keep me occupied.

that might be the lamplighter night... slow motion country on the jukebox, raggedy pool table, cheap beers.

Sounds pretty good for a Monday night. Thanks for the tips. I imagine we might cross paths amongst the various goings on at some point over the weekend.

See you at the Dirtbombs show! Hey Eric, are the Darkest Hours playing that weekend or not?
