Memphis culinary king J.C. Hardaway "the Keeper of the Flame" is currently in intensive care at Baptist Hospital East after having a cancerous tumor removed from his stomach Sunday or Saturday or Monday. You can't send him flowers in intensive care but hopefully he will be out soon. I would guess you can send cards now or send something to the Big S Grill.

yeah, sam soule and i will say a prayer for him tonight. hope he recovers soon and we can be gettin' dem hot chop sandwiches for a log time to come...

latest is that JC is out of the hospital.

don't know when/ if he'll be back on the grill at this time.

Ok, I need an update.....Is J.C. okay and back at the helm or what?
I've already got my order ready for next sunday: one hot, one mild, one cheeseburger, and one quart of beer(maybe two). If no J.C. what are the options for sun. luncheon??? maybe Guadalupanja??? Cozy Corner???

field agent plumley was assigned to J.C. patrol, should have a report in shortly.

guad is a good bet. cozy and payne's are closed.

but don't worry, we've got backup.

Melanie's on n. watkins is open for the buffet style lunch as is Ellen's, which is a la carte. Bon appetite!

latest is that JC is awaiting a July 1 doctor's appointment to acertain if he can head back into the kitchen... we're gonna have to freeball it until then.

maybe we can visit the Big S for a quart, anyway. it's got the fine atmosphere for sure.

JC's still out of commission... no new news.

Good BBQ News (hopefully)...

Legendary South Memphis BBQ shop 4 Way Grill is re-opening, i think mid-August.
