WMC has some absolutely fascinating vintage footage on their website of the news coverage the day that Elvis died. There are several different links you have to click to access it all, but it's worth it.

You know, I thought all that "Elvis was on drugs" was something that was not reported until afterwards, but there's Mason talking about the "rumors".
Also, a long video with fan coverage outside Graceland the day he died.
As a bonus, there are some obviously 70s Memphis commercials in the footage.
I was working in a Fox Photo booth at Sycamore View and Summer (Hwy 70) on the Death Day. My friend David drove to the booth to tell me.
That's one of those "famous person deaths" that I can tell you exactly where I was when I heard it. There are only a few.
