It doesn't get any gayer.

I know we played this out awhile ago, but he certainly is annoying as a person...or maybe he just interviews douche-ily. The article in a recent NYT about his slide into and out of drug abuse with the help of his Banana Republic-modeling girlfriend was fairly disgusting.

Ryan Adams: Pretty swift-moving target.

I probably shouldn't weigh in on this for various reasons, but the absolute best part of the NYT piece is that in the story Adams is actually bragging about HIS drug use to STEVE EARLE! Yes, braggging about doing a little blow to a guy who was addicted to heroin and crack for like twenty years, who did serious jail time on firearms charges, and who's been married about 12 times. The article did not record Earle's response, unfortunately.

In a just world, it would have sounded something like: (thump) (thump) (thump) (POW) (splat).

Was wondering how that article just went from THAT to the "We were like Sid and Nancy" blathering!

Is it too late to make the obligatory "I love that Summer of '69 song!" comment?

I get to use my new derogatory description I have just entered into regular rotation into my vernacular for this thread...

ryan is a douchetard

I'm finding it hard to believe we're in Heaven.

what about Rachel?

I just watched a Ryan Adams and the Cardinals performance on the Henry Rollins Show. That's right, I got a date with cable tonight that started at 6:00pm. Rollins is a hilariously entertaining show host, and I've never even remotely enjoyed Adams' music, but I've seen worse Crazy Horse rip offs in my day.

What channel does THAT come on? I must respect your full exploration of the beast of Cable TV, Andy.
Posted: Jul 15, 2007 1:32 am

It's on IFC.

pot. kettle. black.

talk about an unoriginal subject.

I had tickets to his show at GPAC but got too busy to go.

I really like his new album and if you like his Heartbreaker stuff, you might too .

The book version was better than the TV version...natch.

Any other VC Andrews fans out there?

I read a few of those a long time ago. Good stuff! Book definitely better than the movie. From what I recall, the movie kinda glosses over the whole incest thing, right?

Definitely. It mentions the fact that they are all "Devil's Spawn" because they are the children of the daughter and her uncle. They allude to some weird incest with the ill bed-ridden father too. Those books were like gunpowder in the hands of a 12 year old--my mom would read them and pass them down to me without a second thought.

Call me dense, but I'm not sure how V.C. Andrews ties in with global alt-country superstar Ryan Adams.
Posted: Jul 19, 2007 11:56 pm

It's the global part.

Go back to somewhere where Earles was discussing a cable channel, then I brought up what I was watching on another cable channel ("Flowers in the Attic"). Then I realized that this thread was dying a slow, miserable death. As much as I hate Ryan Adams too, I felt it only fair to distract the vitriol by throwing out a red herring drenched in incest.
