LOCAL CONCERT SHOWCASES MEMPHIS METAL TALENT
Heavy Metal fans get ready to ROCK! The Musician's Advisory Council presents a Memphis Metal blowout at the New Daisy Theater, part of the MAC's "Locals Only Summer Concert Series." The hardcore night of rock, held Friday, June 8 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, is sponsored in part by WMFS 93X Memphis and local Budweiser distributor, D. Canale Beverages. The MAC has also arranged a free live sound seminar for fans and metal musicians from 4:30- 7 p.m. with professional sound engineer Will Floyd who will discuss sound checks and equipment for big stage performances.
Why heavy metal in Memphis? Metal music has captured national attention in the past few years. Not since the success of Metallica has the scene taken the national spotlight with bands appearing on T.V. and satellite radio. Recently, Lamb of God performed on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien, reaching 2.5 million viewers.
Memphis Metal Bands are poised to become a vital part of that national scene.
Few know that the Memphis Metal scene is one of the largest nationwide. With continuous shows performed all around the city, Memphis Metal boasts up-and-coming talent and a loyal fan-base.
In recognition of our local bands, the MAC will host an all-night concert to showcase the grassroots metal movement brewing here in Memphis. The band's impressive lineup – representing different factions within the metal community -- includes some of the finest talent in the region. With six professional bands already on board, this show promises to be the largest of its kind in the history of Memphis metal.
The MAC, an affiliate organization to the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission, is a collective of multi-genre volunteers whose mission is to act as a voice for our local music community and organize opportunities for local musicians and related industry. We at the MAC have started our showcase series to excite Memphians about the diverse and impressive talent cultivated locally. We're excited for a full summer of music and we hope to see you at the show!
