A history teacher at the prestigious Memphis University School was arrested and charged with possessing more than half an ounce of cocaine over the weekend.
Ernest Amsler, 50, was also charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Memphis Police were called to Amsler\'s apartment at 427 Graham # 7 about 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon in response to an argument involving his former girlfriend, according to the charges.
When police went inside, they found the former girlfriend, Tamara Moore, in one of the bedrooms.
A silver spoon with what appeared to be cocaine was lying on the bed, according to reports.
Moore showed the police three medicine bottles in a drawer that contained just over 16 grams of cocaine and 11 grams of marijuana, and police said Amsler told them they were his.
Amsler has been a teacher at the school since 1983, according to the MUS Web site. School officials there could not be reached for comment Monday night.
