1973? Auditorium North Hall or Orpheum?

thanks!

orpheum was a movie theater at that point. Most likely North Hall. Too early for South Hall.

Definitely the South Hall -I was there. Friday, Sept 21 ,1973. Stooges opened . "Raw Power " had just been released. David Johanson was arrested because the Memphis police said he tried to incite a riot. the review the next day in the paper( might have been Press Scimitar) had the blurb about Gram Parsons getting burned up next to it. The following Monday 's news was all about the Jim Croce plane crash which overshadowed tghe Parsons story.

What I meant was too early for the North Hall. I don't think that one came around til a couple years later. South Hall had some great shows in the early '70s!

Ron Hall has an AMAZING story about driving the Dolls around Memphis the day of the show.

Hendrix played the North Hall in April '69 ( Noel Redding pulling double duty as opener with Fat Mattress). There shows there even earlier (Lovin Spoonful in 66?) The first show I saw there was The Who in June 1970. Bowie had played three shows there and Lou Reed once in the year before the Dolls show. the Dolls were far from the first glitter act to play at the Auditorium- Liberace played a show in the fifties there and they had to open both halls at once because he drew such a big crowd. I'm sure Gladys Presley was in attendance. The Ellis Auditorium should have been left standing.

I'm suspicious that that T shirt may already be a repro if not an outright fake.
