Goner Message Board / Memphis / Carol Chumney has a huge set of balls
Posted: Aug 21, 2006 3:40 pm
Announced she's running for Mayor on Saturday. I love her take-no-shit, fuck-you attitude. Though, I am not too familiar with her voting record. Someone enlighten me, please.

She sent me a letter inviting me for coffee last week on her Council letterhead. It also had a sheet of "Important numbers". I didn't see the MPD anywhere on it.

I thought everybody got the letter.

I like her. She's brusque, but she's doing the things an interested mayor should be. I'm not sure what her vision is but she seems to be fairly anti-old ways of corruption and doing biz in Memphis.

i hate to say it ...I REALLY hate to say it .....but ............."choke" ........"gag'..............Sherman is right about Carol Chumney. I will vote for her but I'm scared we ain't seen the last of WH.

Announced she's running for Mayor on Saturday.

Did she? I can't find any news stories that confirms it.

I'm not a big fan of hers. She is too fiscally conservative to the point that she is opposed to wise investments for the future of the city. Such as light rail, hiring new police officers, and riverfront redevelopment.

But she is the most intelligent and qualified candidate that the city has seen , so she'll get my vote.

I'm predicting that once again, too many incompetent but media friendly candidates are going to run for the office. The opposition will split the votes and Willie will win again.

yeah, agreed with Hemant. Seeing the blatant wide-open racism that happened to Cohen by the black candidates was a real eye-opener. It would be really nice if Herenton gracefully stepped aside and cashed out.

My 1st choice would be if somehow Wharton could wave his magic wand, consolidate the city/county, & take over as mayor for both. We could even throw a nice going away party for Herenton. Term limits.

Race is on in the Ninth District

...candidates Julian Bolton and Ron Redwing say that Cohen, as a white man, does not best represent the district...
...For the first time in 30 years Memphis could be without African-American representation...
...An African-American should go on to that seat without apology. Every other ethnic group has representation, why shouldn't we?...

My mom used to give the "He think he all that" at Steve Cohen back in the early 70's for zipping thru Central Gardens side streets in his convertible MG (I think it was an MG)...I remember seeing him and definitely agreeing. We were just jealous.

Jack, I got the letter, too. Along with the numbers and the "Coffee with Carol" dates. She's going to be at Otherlands on Sept. 6.

I agree, Sherman. I'd love to see Wharton's magic wand bring about consolidation. But since that won't be happening any time soon, I think I'll start lending an ear to Chumney. A "trouble-maker" maybe. But maybe that's what we need.

Oh, and Jack. MPD was on there, just a non-emergency phone number, though.
Posted: Aug 22, 2006 3:31 am
I was going to meet her. I was gonna ask her, all Michael Savage-like, "So, uh, you wanna talk about coffe? You wanna talk about some beans? Or, uh, maybe we can talk ABOUT MY FRIENDS GETTING MUGGED ON THE STREETS OF MEMPHIS?"

Like your store, by the way...

Thanks, Jack. Do you think you'll go to any of her high teas?

Stripper shows? HELL, YESSS!!!!

Oh. Oh, I see what you mean...
Posted: Aug 22, 2006 4:18 am
Carol's a stripper, too? Quite the diversified Democrat we have here.
Posted: Aug 22, 2006 4:21 am
Tea Party.
Tee Party.
T-Square Party.
Wait. She's an expert architect, too?

Also, what do I use that Spanish cheese for? I bought some, but not quite sure what to do with it, other than cut it and put it on a cracker.
Posted: Aug 22, 2006 4:46 am
Are you asking about the Manchego? Cutting it up and putting it on a cracker is perfect. It's one of those "melt in your mouth" cheeses. (I will now pause here while your brain comes up with a pornographic remark about that sentence.) Anyway, it's also good for grating over any dish.

I think the best way to eat Manchego cheese is to slice it thin, put it on a slice of pear, cantaloupe, or honeydew, then let it all sit in your mouth for a few seconds before you begin to chew. When the flavors merge, you will love it.

Manchego cheese
Yeah! That's the one! It's in my fridge right now!

Cheese on fruit? Never tried it. Gonna see if the wife wants to try it with me.

Sorry for the porn references. It's my nature, and I can't help it. Ask anybody.

I'll be venturing back up there soon.

Your wife will love it! Better than chocolate!

See, that's the kind of blatant racism I was just talking about! We got these street thug gangs pushing Mexican cheese on us crackers right in the heart of Cooper-Young and, god forbid, right in front of the children on the goner board. I'm not sure I can even learn all the new code words before it's too late.

Bring on the swat team, Chums!

DAMMMMMNNNN, Jeanice! That was GREAT! Picked up a slightly over-ripe Cantoloupe at the kroger, brought it home, poured the lady some wine, and made some thin, cantoloupe/cheese sandwiches.
Posted: Aug 22, 2006 5:44 am
Sorry, back on topic. Chumney, I may see if she'll strip. I mean, do something for the city gov.

They have decided to call in the bad guys and tell them to knock it off. Or else.

But wait, didn't Willie already do this with his straight talk to the criminal element: "Just refrain"????
Posted: Aug 22, 2006 10:29 pm
jack, if you only knew what porn references did to poor jeanicy's innocent ears. . . .it's damn near impossibe to get thru a day of work w/o making her skin crawl. . . hehe
Posted: Aug 23, 2006 1:09 am
Guess what, Jack. We just ran out of Spanish Manchego. The crackers love it.
Posted: Aug 23, 2006 1:11 am
Who you callin' cracker?
Posted: Aug 23, 2006 1:42 am
NOT YOU, JACK! It was a dual reference to Sherman's claims of blatant racism when I suggested cutting up the Spanish (manchego) and putting them on a cracker and you saying you and your lady enjoyed the cheese, fruit, and cracker sammies. Your crackers loved it. I forget that sometimes my attempt at humor only cracks me up.

How dare this Caucasian individual run for mayor?? Is she also a Joo? This city ... must be ... a CHOCOLATE city ...
Posted: Aug 25, 2006 11:31 pm

STOP IT!!!!!
Posted: Aug 26, 2006 1:14 am
Yeah, no "sammies"!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted: Aug 26, 2006 1:44 am
What's a "sammie?" Never heard of it. Never knew one. Never will utter the word ever again. Nor will I write it. Nope. No more "s...ies." Is it a stupid word?
