lps were crap. we'll be lucky to get 50 1.99 lps out of 'em. i felt like i was going through nostalgia world rejects.
even in all that, though, was a metallica garage days re-revisted lp and a dee dee king lp. go figure.
the 45s are some of the dirtiest i'll ever see and possibly the best. tons of little boogaloo labels outta chicago, some out of new orleans, a few out of memphis but not as much as there should be. no more "smog pt 1 & 2" 7"s on soul city (dammit.)
david rockingham trio Pig foots pt 1 & 2 - FINE WINE power right there!
internationals "give a damn" -YOW!
maceo "future shock theme" (insane)
a buncha garnet mimms
a buncha stuff written or produced by monk higgins
a buncha stuff with andre william's name on it
funky funky junior wells stuff
lots of twinight 7"s
triplett twins "get it" (yow!) on thomas...
steelers on crash
eddie purrell on volt (sounds like david bowie!)
plus the deacons, soul tornadoes, ac reed, alvin cash, bobby rush "gotta be funky", ripple, jerry-o doing all kinds of boogaloos and funky four corners, james carr on goldwax, mar-keys on satellite, loads of etc etc etc. most of 'em covered in dirt & partied on. still sound great!
but... it's gonna be a lot of cleaning before they see the store floor. some of 'em needed a lot of cleaning before we even knew what group it was!
