And they will be "Jeff & Ross" shows which means I will have a microphone too and the talk-to-music ratio may veer toward mindless chatter at both events. First off, we are playing an in-store at Goner that Saturday at 5 p.m. I believe it will be a benefit of sorts (not for us, I assure you) so bring some money to contribute to a good cause (again, not us...Zac, Eric, please enlighten re this "good cause" point). It will also be a record release party of sorts as Spacecase Records has just released our Jim Dickinson/Greg Roberson produced (see, Greg, I am still giving you credit for producing and playing on the record...thank you for that, okay?) "Vanity Session" record as a vinyl LP. You don't have to buy it, but you can look at it and read Jeff's funny liner notes and admire Bullyrook's cover art photos for free. Also playing will be Marcella Simien and Dave Couser (for once, I won't be the oldest person there...sorry, Dave, but we are old bastards, aren't we?). I will be playing drums with them but keeping my mouth shut during their set. Jeff, me, Marcella, and Dave will all be playing again at Karen Carrier's DKDC club, literally just around the corner from the Goner store. That will probably start around 10:30 or so and there will be a small cover charge if you care to catch a second dose of Jeff & Ross later in the evening.
Yes! "Good Cause" = GREAT CAUSE. We'll have beer from Memphis Made, get a cup, drop some bucks for Travis Jackson's family. Travis ran the excellent Windian Records, home to Testors, Lover!, MOTO, Bizarros, Penetrators and many, many more. He was killed in an accident while working construction January 15th in Washington, DC.
