Status Quo are still kicking around and they've got a feature film that comes out this month. It looks like it should be of similar quality to other films in this genre. Ahem!

I was thinking more of films that were vehicles for musicians to tap into the wallets of their fan base as opposed to a solitary live on stage cameo (which I assume the Back to School thing is - I've not seen it).

i've been trying to get them to let me show it, had it set up for hi-tone right before they closed.

soundtrack should be coming out on in the red soon
tigerblinds:

I saw the UV Race movie at Horriblefest...twice....uh yeah my short term memory is shot...I'll have to ask someone who also saw it to remind me if I was into it.

Goner Fest perhaps, Bruce?

It's came out at the same time as the Oblivians and Kid Congo records. Good stuff. No free download code, however, so I've not been jamming out to it on my way to work.

maybe, will bring it up

Watched the Criterion of If and O Lucky Man both last summer. Had never seen If before. Whoa. Great film.

Seek out Brittania Hospital if you can. It's the third in trilogy, albeit not as good as the first two.
Sunnyside Turner:

"BRITANNIA Hospital." Sorry.

Thunderbirds Are Go (Cliff Richard & the Shadows)

Oh yes! This has to be one of the best in the category of "stage appearance cameos". Cliff's brief stint sitting in for Parker is a very nice touch.

I'll have to go back and watch these again sometime soon. O Lucky Man was a particular fave in high school. Malcolm McDowell was my hero for quite some time.

Not a band in a feature film per se but as far as a band cameo in a movie always quite liked the Jim Carroll slot in Tuff Turf. It's Too Late is one of my all time favorite songs anyhow.

Cliff Richard and the Shadows had a few films that were vehicle films. I watched one of them, "Finders Keepers" a few months back and was shocked at just how nerdy all the Shadows looked. I guess I'd never actually seen what they looked like before.

These are all the others of this genre that I can remember seeing, and they are all lousy!:
"Having a Wild Weekend" (Dave Clark Five)
"Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" (Herman's Hermits)
"Hey Boy! Hey Girl!" (Louis Prima, Keely Smith & Sam Butera)
"You Can't Stop The Music" (Village People)
"Mantrap" (ABC)
"Disorderlys" (The Fat Boys)
"Tougher Than Leather" (Run DMC)
"Help" (that crappy band from england that watered down rock n' roll by making all their songs sound like show tunes)
