A History Of Garage & Frat Bands In Memphis Vol 1 cd

Killer compilation of Memphis garage! "Uptight Tonight" by Flash & the Casuals starts things off and it's solid 60s action from there on out. Not all fuzz-faced monsters, theres' some nice jangle, too- the Castel's great "Save A Chance" is faux-Brit pop, and Rapscallions "Land Of Soul" took that very soul in to the garage. Contains the toughest Memphis garager of all time, Danny Burke & The Invaders "Ain't Going Nowhere,"... or is it The Jades "Ain't Got You"??? Incredible. The Changin' Tymes had some nice fuzz overload on "Blue Music Box"... ahh it's all good!

15 tracks! Liner notes by Goner Records Eric Friedl!

Fantastic companion to the great book by Ron Hall! Look for Volume 2 as well!
