Impala - Night Full Of Sirens: Anthology '93-97 cd

$11.99

FINALLY! Definitive compilation of Impala's instrumental genius... 30 tracks, liner notes from Eric Oblivian (twice.. what a blowhard!), Andria Lisle, and Russ Ward. Back in the day, who would have known... guitarist John Stivers went on to Papa Top's West Coast Turnaround, and Scott Bomar has gone on to scoring Craig Brewer's films Hustle & Flow and the upcoming Black Snake Moan. Combining elements of Dick Dale, Travis Wammack, Davie Allan, Henry Mancini, and Ennio Morricone, Impala was the only band in Memphis providing reverb crashes and twang- and, unlike a lot of the bowling-shirt-wearing folks from the mid-90s, doing it right.

"Night Full Of Sirens" features all of the Power of Bob ep , Kings Of The Strip ep, all of R& B Favorites 7"s, and pieces of the Teenage Tupelo soundtrack, and the El Rancho Reverbo and Square Jungle albums plus outtakes from these sessions and the last recording the band did, "Amarillo." Features "King Louie Stomp," covered by the Oblivians. After starting in the same Memphis circuit as the Oblivians (first Oblivians show was with Impala in a basement off of Evergreen!) & Royal Pendletons, Impala quickly showed their actual musical skill and progressed to another level. This compilation provides a great collection of their work.
