Brandishing a creaky acoustic guitar and a broken baritone on his 2005 debut Too Much Love, Bobo turned his own hellish agony into high art. Though it flew way under most radars outside of Memphis, TN, Harlan T. Bobo’s debut LP, Too Much Love, was one of my favorite releases of 2006. An outlier on the typically noisy Goner Records label, Too Much Love was a love sick paean to romance that seemed to straddle our reality and that of a David Lynch universe. Harlan T. Bobo channels the vocalizations of Leonard Cohen and the songwriting skills of Tom Waits on this break out CD. "Too much love" is a delightful send off for a love broken apart. I thoroughly enoyed every song on this disc and I'll be anxiously awaiting his next release.
