Memphis supergroup - Memphis Dawls + Dead Soldiers = Dead Dawls! Countrified folk rockin!
Suburban Woman / Slow Motion
Memphis Dawls' sound is polished, lush, and feminine, and contrasts
deeply to the Dead Soldiers' brash and drunken irreverence. They both
tote a penchant for Americana, but they are decidedly different groups.
But of course, like all good collaborations which seem at first
ill-advised, a healthy dose of whiskey and whim defeats convention.
After a year spent planning in 2013, Dead Dawls lept forward in the
first two months of 2014, writing and recording two songs that feature
the full instrumental and vocal prowess of both bands: "Suburban Woman,"
an unsubtle nod to 70s era country jaunts, and "Slow Motion," an
effortlessly haunting dirge. Like the two separate ensembles, the songs
couldn't be more different, but pair beautifully, against all odds, in
their self-titled 7 inch vinyl release.
