I'm going to corpus christi in the beginning of may. anyone know of some fun places to visit, ie record stores, bars, vintage clothing stores, and good local bands to see?

wow I'm sorry I missed this post.

I love tha place because it was home, but Corpus Crispy aka Corpus Shitty is not a good place for bands. Possibly some metal? It's the home of Selena and my most vibrant musical memory of the place is probably the nightly tejano parties all over the place.

If I recall correctly, during the summer of 95 there was one "good" band in town: Brain Damage, a Pink Floyd tribute band...

Sitting at the Executive Surf Club (a place which has existed since the 60's when it hosted all the classic Corpus garage punk bands like Liberty Bell, etc) at a long table, when "Time" from DSOTM came on, a leathery redneck in a red plaid flannel shirt slowly rose to his feet with a mug of bud and said: "Awwww yeahh... This is MAH SONG!"

kind of says it all.

except that, on the other hand, the first show I ever went to (at 14?!) was the butthole surfers & flaming lips. they had the guts/lack of brains to tour that far south and were doing buttloads of acid. it was amazing!
