I'm betting Elle means Brand BBQ. Horrible.

brand is the place. bluh. overpriced and not good. their mac and cheese was the only thing i liked and i can make that better my damn self.

colemans #1 on cicero

pictures please... a little meat porn as backyard BBQ season arrives..

pictures please...

i promise to take pics the next time i go. the block is completely desolate and run down (naturally) and its only a carry out. regardless, we got the rib tips and they were super tender and melt in your mouth. pretty surprising really. the sauce was typical "chicago red" but had a bit more flavor than the hot sauce base.

"chicago red"

jeezus... how many times we gotta tell ya? no one wants to hear about your asshole.

brand is gross and it's also at the end of my street so i curse it whenever i'm walking to california & armitage to catch the bus down to chicago to go to feed for a decent pulled pork sandwich.

i'm guessing i used to go to terry's when i lived on austin. is that the place just east of central on the southside of the street with a yellow sign? me and the ex used to go until the day we went back to our car and two of the area youth pulled out chrome plated automatics and started jawing at each other on the sidewalk. decent bbq was not worth being called "innocent bystanders" in the next days tribune.

terry's is at 5501 w. division. it seems fairly new though. when we were there there was some comotion across the street enough for the dudes working there to leave us standing at the register while they rubber necked in the parking lot. no gun play though. thie bbq really wasn't that great. tough and chewy but good hot links. how can you fuck up hot links though?

i want to hit gus's ribs and wings on division and pulaski. looks good.

i think i might visit feed on my way to work tonight. the siren song of pulled pork is calling to me.
Posted: Mar 23, 2010 2:54 pm

i'm a HUGE fan of feed's chicken tortilla soup. dirt cheap and good(ish) for you. great for a walk in and out lunch.

Feed is great. Chicken pot pie rules and is probably awful for you.

Finally got to Coleman's yesterday---tips were awesome and the sauce was definitely a step above the usual. Anybody else gotten the hot links there? I couldn't tell if the sauce didn't really mesh as well as it did with the tips or if it was weirdly seasoned. They weren't necessarily bad, but I'll stick to just the tips rather than a comb next time.

Nobody's mentioned Uncle John's (69th street a block or two west of the Skyway)...definitely my favorite hot links in town.

Anybody else gotten the hot links there?

they were out the time we went but i'll assume they get the same hot links as everyone else. i do love the combo though. you can get the same links at the market next to the aldi and the braids and nail salon on kedzie and chicago ave.

Uncle John's
seen it, but never been. theres also a bad ass looking place on 75th st. just of the expressway.

andrew: darklord ride this year?

As long as my ribs are feeling a solid and I can convince somebody to take our cooler and grill, that sounds good to me. Jason's going to Houston/Austin for the MS-150 the weekend before, but also seems interested in riding down.

cool. i plan on riding down and taking the train from flossmoor back. a nice, small-ish group of the non slow poke types would be awesome.
