http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruit_Pie_the_Magician

Fruit Pie the Magician was the official mascot for Hostess fruit pies from 1973 till early 2006 when the character was removed from the fruit pie labels. Over the years Fruit Pie the Magician was featured in print ads in comic books as well as animated in television commercials. The character appeared on Hostess fruit pie product labels as a living fruit pie sporting a cape, top hat and magic wand.

The following is from a cached version of the Hostess web site:

"Magic - Fruit Pie the Magician loves to entertain friends with his wacky magic tricks. His favorite magic trick is to make Hostess Fruit Pies appear out of thin air. You always have to keep an eye on the Magician or else he may play a trick on you."

I could eat about 19 of those fruit pies right now, and one hostess chocolate pudding pie for dessert. R.I.P. FPTM, I will always love you.

I used to fiend for the cupcakes, not the chocolate ones but the other flavor. That icing was like a sugary piece of rubber with a squiggle on it. Delicious.

Don't get me wrong, i liked the chocolate ones, but I loved orange. I used to always have "orange" birthday cake and I still dig those "orange" Pillsbury breakfast rolls!!!!

Back in the late 80's I used to make the magic fruit pies do a disapearing act, until I found out the invisible beer trick, with my lovely assistant miss Leslie, was a hell-o-lot more fun. That fruitie pie magician can do his own dissapearing act FOREVER as far as I'm concerned!!!
