Shhhh.... you know I like them... I have played that first LP so much that I sort of felt dirty. 2nd LP isn't as good, but there is enough there to keep my attention.

flame thrower exhibit!! (burn some mp3's) ha!
Posted: Jan 31, 2014 11:10 am

Brett! Scientists would be killer- hope you get to see 'em.

Thought about you guys while we were playing on the internet last night- HELLO AUSTRALIA!

I'm on board for the flamethrower demo, probably would have to be in the Hi Tone big room.

Also not sure if the Anvil tossing competition previously held during GOAT DAYS has a home... would also be a nice addition. Probably outside at the Buccaneer or Murphys, maybe.

"Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart! I would lose it if I saw "Eat Your Heart Out Rick Springfield" or "We Hate School" or "Everybody to Their Own Kick" live! He's a Memphis native! This has to happen, baby!

Make that three. I've seen them a couple of times in Portland. Good stuff. The distortion seems to be disappearing though.

Been hearing this tune from Fat White Family quite a bit recently. Teasers devotees.

Make that four. Though, had i seen them before hearing their records, i probably wouldn't have bought them. That said, i saw them the day after coming back from debauch-a-reno, so maybe it was just an issue of mixing orange juice with tooth paste...

I have seen them once and it was great. I saw them a year and a half later and it was good, but they seemed to being having issues with the sound the whole time.

I wholly endorse Big Stick & Feedtime, especially if they play the stuff from the singles. The Celebate Rifles LP Roman Beach Party absolutely shreds. Would be awesome!

Still big on Toxic Reasons, Gang of Four, & Wire, plus Volcano Suns would be great. Kenny Chambers is playing again. See if you can get him to do a Moving Targets set or whatever he's got going on now.

I saw WIRE recently...they are too cool to do most of the classics...got real boring real fucking quick. Check out their new record to see what I mean.

But awesome suggestions Mullet!

Yeah, everything I listed (and listened to in the last year) is either from
1) Texas
2) Australia
3) The Lamps

That living eyes LP is great!!!

When was the Gonerfest lineup announced last year? I can't remember. Hozac is lame this year (Dictators/Boys would be cool to see I guess, but there is NO ONE else on the lineup, and last year was so great all the way through) and I can't make it to Horrible Fest as much as I'd like to, so this is next up on things I'm looking forward to.

I would be THRILLED if the Gizmos played for Gonerfest. So bummed y'all aren't leaving the midwest on your brief reunion "tour".

I talked with Kenne about it, and I think he will still be up for it: although the timing might leave someone out, it may still work!

Dude. Do it. Please.

Gonerfest Ted Talks?
Life Hacks?
Don't print shit unless you need to.
Just putting this forward, I don't care how many times you have to "shake your hands" after washing. Folding one napkin to dry your hands still takes two sheets of paper towels. I've tried the Ted Talks method. I'd like to help with their ideas, but old dude was wrong about single towels. I wish it were true.

We're aiming for Don for GF12, this one didn't work.

I think Fred Lane (Tim Reed?) lives in Chattanooga, right?

The Gizmos will be great if that happens. I'm looking forward to seeing them next week, but wouldn't mind seeing them again at GF.

Toxic Reasons is a no-go for probably any lineup. The most interesting version of the band to entice to reform would be the original Independence lineup with Ed Pittman on vocals. However, that might take a while to make it happen—maybe an idea for next year. They did this line-up once in Indianapolis about 5 years ago and it was super fun. The other lineups have problems. Inter-band personal issues and J.J. now living back in Canada.

The Zero Boys current lineup is actually really really good. It isn't just Paul from the old band, the still have Mark on drums. The new guitarist and bass player are kicking ass. This is actually the best version of the band I've seen without Terry Hollywood.

My dream for Gonerfest 11 is Teengenerate! It would be especially cool if the English subtitles for the "Get Action" documentary are finished. That way we could see the band and the doc. —I can dream, can't I?
Posted: Jun 5, 2014 1:22 pm | Edited by: eric o

Teengenerate would be awesome with doc, indeed!

Working on a bunch of suggestions from this thread! Announcements SOON!
Posted: Jun 5, 2014 4:57 pm

Cool!

I should also mention that at The Atlanta Mess Around this year, of course The Marked Men, The Spits, and The Coat Hangers were great, but the surprise (for me) was AJ Davila. His band was tons of fun.
Posted: Jun 6, 2014 11:03 am

I have a Coat Hangers cd in my car but I gotta be in the mood for it.

anyone have flight tips for flying in from the west coast? i've never flown into the south - just a road trip, long ago. anywhere in the area that's considerably cheaper than direct to memphis?
Posted: Jun 12, 2014 8:02 pm

Memphis is a hub so I doubt you'll find much cheaper. I'm gonna be honest -- the initial lineup doesn't thrill me like GFX did (outside of The Gizmos), but I don't keep up with music enough either, so a lot of it is foreign to me. I'm sure some people are thrilled. I might end up going to Meltasia instead -- can't afford to do both.
Posted: Jun 12, 2014 8:17 pm

Memphis is no longer a hub, cheaper to fly into either Nashville or little rock
Posted: Jun 13, 2014 1:43 pm

Check out southwest. They fly to memphis now. I got a flight from Pittsburgh for under 300 with a months notice. I am sure they will have something. Little Rock isn't much less these days. Plus, you gotta find a ride, blow a trucker, etc.

I'll second Mud City Manglers. Saw them tear it up real good in Port Huron awhile back. Still doing what they've always done. Well. Ted's a champ.

Locals...Pow Wows, just get sicker with time. The rough mix of the new lp is hitting me like drugs. They have one Equals cover, make 'em play a whole set!
Posted: Jun 20, 2014 1:36 pm

I am so stoked for this. I was on the fence, but I can't miss it. Since the Gizmos show, I can't wait to see them again. They were absolutely great guys & they were absolutely fantastic to me. I advocate giving them my money.

By the way, New Regrets opened in Dayton. Ed Pittman brings it as tough & as raw as any punk ever. Was not going to DKs show in Columbus, but as New Regrets are opening, I can't miss it now.

Seig Heil, Mofos!!!

...Where can you go from there? Where?

Marty DiBergi: I don't know.

Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?

Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.

Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.

If this is the last GF, I will do everything within my power to make it. As it stands currently, I'm on the fence.
