I give all bands a solid 6 minutes before they get gonged off...by the way I play the gong and I juggle.
Posted: Jun 18, 2013 9:06 pm

6 minutes is a long time to go before getting gonged.

Redesigning the site and making some other improvements to optimize the stream for viewing on any device. Also added a countdown clock, so viewers in any time zone can see when it starts without having to do math.

Check it out and let us know!

You like what we do? Tell a friend.
Just click on it and watch for a bit, if you can't watch the whole thing.

We'll archive it, of course, and you can watch it later, but...
Clicks during the event will (hopefully) help later on.

Help out some dudes.

Thank y'all,

holy shit, this is kinda weird, just now is the first time i've clicked on this thread, i think, and i got all the way to the bottom. then i started typing a reply, cancelled it, and scrolled up to click the link. i didnt even realize it was 6:59 (PST) and the show was a minute from beginning! i happened to click the link, then click the poster, at just the right time, totally without knowing! whatever, maybe its not that cool but i was pretty excited just now! but my computer sucks so i saw a tall guy with long hair and a beard, and glasses, for about 3 seconds and the shit froze on me.

It's not the same comedian as last time is it? Sorry if he's your friend but he stunk it up.
Posted: Jul 18, 2013 6:43 am

Nope. Different one. If you watched the last one, it's the guy with the phone from the sketch. Seen him at a few comedy nights, and he's really good. Regarding last guy, I dare you to try stand-up. It's harder than being in a band.
Posted: Jul 18, 2013 9:56 am

I dare you to try stand-up. It's harder than being in a band.
Good standup is hard, just like being in a good band.
Posted: Jul 18, 2013 12:21 pm

Hey, I've stunk up stages plenty of times it's nothing personal...but if a guy 2 cities over can't tell you that you stunk it up, who can?

Most of the local comedians here stink it up, they are funnier in a personal conversation than on stage.

I might try stand-up, it's one of the few things my short attention could probbably muster, unless I can find some guys who are cool with my slide bass technique.

Two blondes are walking and fall into a deep hole...one says, "it's dark in here" the other says, "who turned the lights out?"....

Sheesh tough crowd.....

I bought my kid an educational toy to help him make it through life. No matter how you put it together, it's wrong!

Last time I went to the doctor the nurse called me to the desk and she actually said, "you're here to see the doctor about your impotency, right?"

Everyone looked up at me, I was so embarassed...I said, 'No, I'm here to see about getting a sex change and I'd like to see the doctor that did yours!"
Posted: Jul 18, 2013 1:51 pm

I watched the entire broadcast. Jay White's trucker stories are amazing.

The biggest problem with standup in Memphis, and I assume standup anywhere, is that no one in their community will bag one of their own if they are not funny. If I kept doing my job wrong, they'd fire me. If your buddy isn't funny and still tries to do standup, send them to youtube and show them how its done.

Since its the internet, how bout some strippers?

Jus sayin...
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 11:22 am

We were going to see if we could get some of the local burlesque ladies to appear. I was going to host shirtless to make it Equal Opportunity.
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 12:08 pm | Edited by: tigerblinds

With pasties on your nipples? Strippers would be better imho.
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 2:47 pm

Memphis skrippers don't get nude anymore, so Jack's pasty pasties for the win.
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 3:26 pm | Edited by: tigerblinds

They don't get naked here either, but I would rather watch strippers than burlesque dancers any day. Strippers are like burlesque dancers with out all of the crazy unrealistic pretensions. What would really be great is to watch strippers anywhere besides a strip club (gross)....
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 3:28 pm | Edited by: tigerblinds

Jack in pasties is a given, even if Jack can't dig up any pootie tang.
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 4:21 pm

surely Astrid can "multi task" ??
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 4:44 pm

They don't get naked here either,

I'm going to stop you right there for a second, and just say the few times I went to skrip klubz in Memphis, before the nudity ban, I saw shit that I only would have seen in Swank when I was a kid, or on the internet. I know there are a few locals that post here that could tell us a story or two about Memphis and its adult entertainment establishments.

Jack vs Astrid - may the best CANidate win...or maybe they can do a bit off basketballing around skins vs skins.
Posted: Aug 7, 2013 7:45 pm

Haha, I'm sure. I'm familiar. I have a similar story from the late 90s about a place that was basically just a brothel. I wound up there with some pals, one was Tony from Crain. Long story short, they had just banned taking your bottoms off, anyway there is a woman totally cracked out and naked standing on the 4 foot by 6 foot glass stage behind the bar....snaggle toothed and sagging....fingering herself.

We wound up there rather innocently enough, I think we hung out there for more than three hours....but I'm always amazed this place is still open.

When you are young you take things like that for granted.
Posted: Aug 12, 2013 11:53 am

How long do you give the comedian? I normally don't write my shit down, but if I were forced to, I could. GIVE ME TIME, I WANT TIME!
Posted: Aug 12, 2013 1:00 pm

We're actually cutting some of the comedian time and replacing it with some other stuff. We typically gave 2 spots at 3 min each. We're backing it down to 1 spot.
Posted: Aug 12, 2013 2:26 pm

Oh, I liked the two slots. It might be better, though, if one of the comedians did something other than stand-up, like a skit or a fake gameshow or something that would draw the audience in.
Posted: Aug 12, 2013 2:33 pm

Do you take submissions? I've got a ton of ideas that mostly revolve around poop and pee jokes, some abortion stuff too.
Posted: Aug 12, 2013 2:55 pm

Troll, we have skits, too.
And yes, we take submissions.
And we had an abortion joke.
And one about horse cocks.
