Man, I met the dude once at the Hi Tone a few months back. I was there to see Today is the Day, who canceled and Bones was one of a few of us who stuck around to drink some beers. He was all jazzed up b/c Evil Army just got some opening gigs for Down in the US and Canada.
I was really excited for those guys b/c they put on an amazing show.
Deepest condolences to his friends and family.

this sucks. When we were recording Issen my cat really loved to snuggle in Matt's armpits. They rocked some 13 minute songs. Also does anyone remember when he got up at Murphy's and played the wash tub bass with the Pine Hill Haints? As sad as it is that he's gone I just laugh when I think of him.

Matt was at the first party I ever went to in Memphis. We discussed the origin of heavy metal. I think his band was playing at the first show I went to as well. Addiction is worse than cancer.

What a great and talented guy. What a huge loss for us all.

he was optimistic

Dude refused to see the forest for the trees. What a way to live. He always seem to be trying for something better when stuff was shit.

What a funny guy, too. "Dude, you ever notice how wrestler's names make great names for dildos? Think about it." Still buoyant when everybody around him was hung over or coming down -I saw him annoy the hell out of people this way but I couldn't help but enjoy it.

He fucking loved metal, too.

Addiction is worse than cancer.

I don't agree with this, neither the statement nor the posting of this on the thread.

my heart goes out to you Rob, Michael, and everybody closest too him. i'll see ya'll there. i feel so bad for ya. I was really lookin forward to seein you all in austin. and matt wanted me to meet some of these folks i hadn't met before.
He did so much crazy good shit, man, even if he was bein a joker people listened to him, cus he was truthful -and- witty as a merf!
I love being reminded of all his flashy jokes. Wrestler dildo names Ha!
The Cremation Coffee Creamer commercials-- Ha Ha! Fucking GREAT sense of humor- fucking GREAT live shows. He was an entertainer through and through and he LOVED it, good at bringing people together. Man there was nothing holdng him down, he would talk to anybody and hang with ya.
He tried DAMN hard to make it, harder than most of us ever will hafto try, and I really held out that he always would.

What a huge loss for us all.
, yes.

i'll see ya'll there

People are distracted by objects of desire,
and afterward repent of the lust they've indulged,
because they have indulged with a phantom
and are left even farther from Reality than before.
Your desire for the illusory could be a wing,
by means of which a seeker might ascend to Reality.
When you have indulged in lust, your wing drops off;
you become lame, abandoned by a fantasy.
Preserve the wing and don't indulge in such lust,
so that the wing of desire may bear you to Paradise.
People fancy they are enjoying themselves,
but they are really tearing out their wings
for the sake of an illusion.

I saw Evil Army play at the Candlefactory in New Orleans a few years ago. He was rocking so hard he fell off the side of the stage. He went down hard. The stage was pretty high. I was sure he was badly hurt.

Wrong. He just climbed back onto stage like nothing happened. I was completely amazed.

Sorry to all his friends.

This is one of the first sites that I've seen that hasn't had one bad thing to say. I appreciate the support (and I'm sure the rest of my family does in some way) I may be biased but I think Matt was the BEST bassist/performer in Memphis. His energy always high... his talent always higher...

Anyways Thanks
