I have had a headache for 2 weeks now. The only thing that helps it is taking benedryl. This is most likely because benedryl puts me straight to sleep. I have no other allergy symptoms, but I cannot think of anything else that would give me such a sustained headache. Any folk medicine experts have any home remedies to suggest?

I get sinus headaches all the time due to alergies. It has only happened in the past few years but tylenol allergy medicine helps a lot for me.

What Davie said, but I've pretty much dealt with allergies forever.

yes. it's terrrrrrrible. i hate hate hate it. the pressure makes me want to drill a hole in my head and drain out all the snot. i don't know what kind of pollen is in the air right now, but whatever it is, it's making me sneeze 15 times in a row and have a snot faucet instead of a nose. blah.
i just take benedryl. it doesn't make me too sleepy thankfully. the only other thing that works for me is allegra and i don't have insurance so i ain't paying out the nose for it.

i suggest a rolfing session whereby the practitioner places his or her pinky finger up your nostril until the physiology of your nasal passage agrees with the intrusion and gently slides into your sinus cavities. seriously, its like putting menses in spaghetti sauce.

My daughter and wife both have terrible allergy problems. My wife recently bought that ridiculous looking thingy in that stupid commercial called a nitty pot (netty pot? Something like that). If you've ever seen that commcercial you'll know what I'm talking about. It's the one where the lady is holding that pot in her nose and smiling like a freaking retard during the whole scene. They both swear by it and it has really helped them clear the crud outta their schnozzes. Also, take an over-the-counter allergey pill like Claritan. WalMart has an Equate equivalent that is really cheap.

Ok, you got me. I was just trying to cover for the mobile meth lab I'm building in my Subaru.
(When I get arrested, can someone delete this, please?)
I have no snot...just a headache that won't quit...no matter how much I drink. Actually, I think someone stuffing their fingers up my nose and giving me an intrafacial massage would help a lot!

intrafacial massage
the mouth was fine, but the nasal passage was definitely weird, but try it. there was snot pooling up in my mouth.

Quercitin Complex keeps the histamines away and doesn't make you feel all dopey. And the neti pot's a good idea too.
(I was accused of being a hippie the other day by Bazooka Joe. This post may confirm that he's actually right.)

this is my dream. but, i'd also like to drill holes in the spaces on either side of my nose and let all the snot drain out.
I don't have any other suggestions than what was said here, but yeah, between allergies, sinus infections and cat hair, I'm pretty much blowing my nose 24/7. It really fucking sucks.

So a neti pot is that thing when you pour salt water up your nose?
Sounds intriguing. Do I need a special pot or can I use a funnel?

Taking all of the benedryl could be drying your sinus cavities making the mucus thick and difficult to get out, try just taking something for the headache. A neti pot is good, you might also try hanging your head off the bed, or if you are into yoga a few long inverted poses. You have two sinuses in your face that drain up, go figure. I also find breathing exercises to help.
If you have pain or tenderness in your face (press around your nose and the top of you cheeks, and about your brows), it could be a more serious infection. You might see a doctor if your symptoms don't go away soon.

you can have mucus blockage in your sinuses w/o "snot". Mucus is normal in your sinus cavities it helps warm the air and remove impurities.
and although jays recommendation might help, anal tears can be quite a headache as well.

Clean out an old douche and really get some pressure behind that saline rinse instead of a passive pour. Christ, don't really try that, I was JUST kidding!
They also make an ultra-cheap saline rinse that's much better than the sinus sprays that shrink your nasal tissue. Those sprays that shrink it up do nothing but harm because when they wear off, the tissue gets more inflammed and swollen than before. AVOID those at all costs, or so several drs. have told me.

Yesterday I went to whole foods to buy a neti pot. A few hours after getting home I remembered that I forgot to buy one while at the store. I was distracted by seafood and juices.
So, my fella and I devised a homemade alternative. Initially I said I would not let him watch me rinse snot out of my face, but circumstances made it a two person job. We hopped in the bathtub to avoid making a mess and poured warm salt water up each others noses through a funnel. I dare say, while less sexy, it was freakier than anal sex. Good for a laugh and my head did feel clearer afterwards.
