Lisa has played the first 4 (in H.City & CCC) & I have played 2-5 (in CCC & A/VM)... I dunno - if there's not a Roe playing in one form or another, it could be UNLUCKY!!!
Posted: May 14, 2009 7:17 pm

I think I'm gonna finally go to this gonerfest thing this year and see what all the hullabaloo is about.

is there a chance that The Compulsive Gamblers are coming to Europe? or even better: to The Netherlands? Or is Gonerfest6 the only show? It really would be so great if they would come over here!!!
Posted: May 19, 2009 4:10 am

So what are the nightly lineups? It benefits me to schedule vacation as early as possible.
Posted: May 19, 2009 4:50 pm

we're gonna contact the bands to see if they can make the night's we've got 'em scheduled for, then switch who we need to, then announce. sorry for the wait!
Posted: May 20, 2009 3:43 am

sorry for the wait!

It's all good in the Goner hood. I am very much looking forward to returning to Memphis. I didn't get to stuff my face at Cozy Corner last time, plus the logo on my wife's Sun Studios glass has faded from excessive use/washings.

Can't order sumthin' like that online!

hello there!
anyone: arriving at Memphis International Airport, should I take a train, or a bus, or maybe even a taxi to a hotel, close to Gonerfest6, close to Hi-Tone, and close to Goner???
Posted: May 27, 2009 10:51 am

taxi. Most convenient Hotel is the Artisan.

If you're coming in at the same time as anyone else sharing the cab would cut costs...

Thanks Eric, good to know.

If I will be able to make it to the Fest, I probably arrive two days earlier, to have a little taste of memphis, and to do a little shopping at Goner's.....

Did Nobunny have to cancel? The banner up top should be changed to "Tickets Now!"
Posted: Jul 2, 2009 4:05 pm

I want to buy tickets in advance via the hitone website but the ticket system accepts only US adresses and US phone numbers. Is there any chance to purchase tickets if you are coming from Europe?
Posted: Jul 2, 2009 4:57 pm

but the ticket system accepts only US adresses and US phone numbers

I'm having the same problem and there doesn't seem to be any way around it or an option to book if ordering from outside US / Canada. The Hi-Tone seems to have changed who they use to sell tickets, I'm sure the last few years it was MusicToday and I had no problem there. Help! If TicketBiscuit just can't accept foreign addresses, could Golden Passes be available direct from Goner?

uh, wasn't the band just Mr. Nobunny and the rock n roll adventure kids? Cant you just teach some other people (like one of the other 5 bands from sf playign at gonerfest) your songs?
Posted: Jul 6, 2009 7:51 pm

NOBUNNY
Back from the Grave!
We are playing upstairs in between the bands from GONERFEST 3D into a mirror with the lights off.
Posted: Jul 6, 2009 9:03 pm

we just got word that after a short breakup, NOBUNNY has worked out his own personal differences, put himself back together and will be performing! Hooray!
Posted: Jul 6, 2009 9:09 pm

Internationalers... they are working on the credit card situation and should have a solution for us soon. If everything else fails - it appears that you can enter an American address, say Goner Records, 2152 Young Ave, Memphis, TN 38104... and fill out everything else normally, and it should run fine. So if you want to get it knocked out tonight or tomorrow - you can process it that way. By Wednesday we should have a better solution in place... and we'll post it here. Sorry for the hassle!
Posted: Jul 9, 2009 9:40 am

Booked and printed ticket!

For non-US/Canadians you only need to put in a US State, Zip Code and Phone Number (I used Goner as suggested by Zac) with your own details to get to the next screen where you can actually buy the ticket. The print at home option is very handy. No hassle!

general admission and below that golden pass..

It's the same with me. But I'm quite sure that's okay.
Posted: Jul 10, 2009 7:52 pm

How's the deal with performing bands + their drivers? Do they get a free ticket for whole Gonerfest or only the day they play?
Posted: Jul 11, 2009 1:42 pm

It's the same with me. But I'm quite sure that's okay.

Ditto. The fact it says the ticket price is $50 / Golden Pass should be enough to identify it from a day ticket even though it does say Thursday on it. I'm sure it'll be cool.

any approximate start times for each night? first-timer, and hauling ass from ohio on thursday. hoping to catch a meal at Payne's, then head to the opening ceremonies, and just want to judge travel time.

really looking forward to all the shows, and spending some time in a great town....been procrastinating for a couple years now, and simply couldn't pass it up again.

Just averages, but:
Opening Ceremonies at Goner starts around 5:00 or a little after, untill about 6:30
Doors at the Hi-Tone usually open around 8:30-9:00ish
Friday Afternoon rock is usually around 1:00 until about 6:00, but this year is back at the Buc, so...
Doors at the Hi-Tone usually open around 8:30-9:00ish
Saturday is Murphy's day, and it starts around 1:00, ends around 7:30, but be prepared to run in and out to see a LOT of bands.
Doors at the Hi-Tone usually open around 8:30-9:00ish
Sunday is Closing day at Goner; I think it usually starts around 1:00, but everybody stands around drinking bloody "memphis" marys until whenever the band goes on (usuall it's just one band/artist, but two bands have played twice, before).
Then around 7:00 or so, most folks end up at the buc for beers and whoever is DJ-ing.

I don't know if/where/when any after-parties/shows are, but they usually happen; sometimes announced, sometimes not.

Eric or Zac should be along to give you some time-lines, but that's how it usually happens.

Also, I want my country back and was wondering if there is an alternate route for me to drive from Michigan to Tennessee on roads that aren't funded by tax dollars?

I might not be back on the internet to read about privatized directions because I'm pretty sure that the government subsidizes the internet. I really enjoy that King Khan & BBQ Show 7" with "Teabag Party" on it and have lip and ball-synched to it at many protests with my older, wiser, smellier, and retired fellow true Americans.
Posted: Sep 15, 2009 11:38 pm

I, sir, am against your plan. I am sick of old people, living off my dime for the free rides on my tax-paid highways. It's taken out of my check every week, and I won't see any benefit from it until I am old. Do you know why the economy is trouble? Free maps for seniors. That's right, I said it.
If old people want free public transportation, they should join the military, like everybody else.

I will see you off this so called "internet" AND WE WILL WALK PACES, SIR!

One of the parts of Gonerfest I was most impressed with last year was how punctual everything was.

Can't wait.

We've got to be on time- we got way too much going on to wait for anyone...

Just posted the times. Might have to wiggle a little on the Saturday lineup due to some very crucial issues, but everything else should be good!

Check it! http://www.goner-records.com/gonerfest/gf6-schedule.php

So, as for unofficial Goner-related shows going on during Gonerfest (but obv. not actually going on during a Gonerfest show), I know of the Reatards/Cheap Time show on Wed. night at Nocturnal and the Pop Guns/Woven Bones/Fresh and Onlys show at the Buccaneer on Thursday afternoon.

Anything else?

I don't have a blogpod so I post this here as well as other nerd lair seconds ago.

Top performances in alphabetical order:

Box Elders - I haven't liked the recorded songs that much but like everybody else I looked and pointed and thought, holy shit, the drummer is biting his drumstick and playing a lil organ. Great live.
Cheater Slicks - I didn't black out so mission un-accomplished but sounded like what mental illness sounds like inside my head. Best.
CoCoComa - not playing "Water Into Wine" is the only blemish. Harmonies were great. Practice much?!
Davila 666 - when they host FUSE TV's Dia De Los Muetros Spring Break special I'll hopefully get to judge the edible underwear eating contest. Why is the LP from last year out of print?
Fresh & Onlys - started getting too drunk playing records but they were tight as hell. Wife loved them.
Gentleman Jesse - pretty and clean and tight and sunny. Perfect.
Magnetix - swarthy, got too drunk playing records but not as drunk as Looch on Saturday, ha.
Nobunny - shambles and then killer
Overnight Lows - party! Glad that they're not aping psych krautrock bands like everybody else these days, sheesh.
Reatards - Wednesday night at the not Antennae Club
Reatards - Thursday night sloppier and more evil and better
Shitty Beach Boys - I didn't really like it but I appreciated it fully. Know what I mean?
Tirefire - anybody else see the huge, evil moth that flew around Muscle's head? His familiar.
Ty Segall - cute, got too drunk playing records but recognized all the shit I love from the Goner LP and single
Useless Eaters - Friday in the parking lot trebley good times slop.
White Wires - why somebody gotta say that it kinda sounds like Head and M.O.T.O. because then that's what it sounded like to me. Goddamn it.

I regret leaving before the Compulsive Gamblers played on Friday but I had a boner.

How was Die Rotzz on Saturday after the many shows? Biggest regret!

It was pretty much all awesome. Thanks to all the Goner folks that somehows kept everything running so smoothly. And thanks, Zac, for the emergency Sunday morning record shopping.

My faves:

Davila 666 - like an instant party on stage with all those dudes shoutin' and bouncin'. Best argument for a tambourine player.

Sonic Chicken 4 - wish I was in this band.

Gent. Jesse - sunny Saturday afternoon, tallboy in hand, front row with my lady, not a care in the world. Would've been worth the whole trip. Granted, I only drove three hours. But still...

Overnight Lows - w/ Ed Nasty. Total KBD NM OOP. New songs even awesomer than old songs. TRIPLE TREAT!!!!

Fresh & Onlys - have you never been mellow? Great to see. And pleasantly surprised to discover the shirt i bought was a v-neck. Very comfy for the Saturday afternoon blowout. Really let my five chest hairs breath.

NoBunny - the technical difficulties actually won me over as a bigger fan. What up with the Juggalos spraying Faygo and that dude trying to unmask NoBunny? I bet it was that kid in the Crass t-shirt wasn't it? It's always the kid in the Crass t-shirt.

Box Elders - DANCE PARTY USA! STEVE MCDONALD!!!!!

Oh, and there was no Die Rotzz show.

I also just remembered that Ty Segall knocked out a great rendition of "Annette's Got The Hits" on Thursday. Wonder if Mr. McDonald was around to catch that.

Anyone notice the prenobunny frenchfrog in the back foaming at the mouth? I kept calling him old yeller and he didn't get it.

The faygo was nigalos..juggalos enemies.

I love blowing stuff up...it never gets old to me. I was hoping for a "greatwhite" scenario where half of the garage turkies in the usa went up in smoke secertly

Just finished uploading the rest of my videos. Sorry I didn't get any TireFire - I was too consumed with the spectacle to remember to pull out the camera. Maybe it's better that way. kvlt.

It's not! Totally in print and available. The band just ran out of them.

I'm rounding up blogs and reports from Gonerfest, including some of the links y'all have posted on this thread. Check it out; I'll be updating throughout the week as I find more ...

Artisan just called asking when Gonerfest would be in 2010! They loved it!

"A great bunch of people" is what they called the Gonerfesters!

Unbelievable.

Why ? Just cos they didn't steal the telephones or shit on the bathroom walls? ( thinly disguised dig at the COGIC there).

I guess that's it!

Thanks for not getting mad at me eric for blowing shit up,gonerfest should be during gaypride week next year.

It was pretty funny that the Artisan didn't even bother to fix the sign by the garage after someone changed it from "WELCOME GONE FEST" (the hotel forgot the R) to "WE CUM GONE FEST" I wonder what the non-gonerfest guests thought of that sign.

White Wires covering Ohio Express was amazing!

GAH! Ohio Express? Which song did they cover?! I can't believe I missed their set...all because of some wife beater...some dude staying on the same floor as us at the Artisan was beating on his woman and we kinda got involved right when we were leaving to the Hi Tone on Saturday. Anyhoo, I feel real bad that I missed White Wires!

That actually is unbelievable! With Muscle pissing in one elevator and the cops showing up at the pool at 4am friday night, makes you wonder what kind of people stay there the rest of the year.

The Artisan's secret elevator rules!!!! Onion Avenue forever!

I was outside when they first discovered it. All the employees were rolling in laughter and telling the dude who was about to change it back to leave it as it was. Hilarious.

Cheater Slicks - I didn't black out so mission un-accomplished but sounded like what mental illness sounds like inside my head. Best.

Mission accomplished for me. Only the tiniest fragments available, this despite the fact that I was front and center the whole time, apparently screaming like a madman and waving my hands in the air, dancing like one of those goddamn balloon men you see in front of the car dealerships. Assume I looked like what mental illness looks like on the outside. I came to briefly when I smashed that bottle, and then again when I smashed my face. Pretty much next thing I knew I was back at the Artisan, on my bed, although I'd apparently stayed on my feet for the whole show. Am still blowing black boogers. Eeee.

Ok,

No Die Rotzz. Sucks.

Davila 666 LP is still in print. A few of the band members I asked didn't seem to know or thought that it was out of print. Besos negros.

Socks is the one that I dubbed Tomato Face and we got a great pic of you with tomato paste nose. You were the happiest person in the room during their set!

Earlier this year when we stayed at the Artisan during my wife's spring break we rode the right elevator up and when we got to our floor it kinda stopped but didn't and swung up and down for a few seconds. The next day we came out and it had a sign reminding you not to use the ELEVOTOR. No spell check on all caps in landscape mode apparently.

We've stayed at the Artisan about 5 times in the past few years. Always fun. Holiday Inn Express this year had stank all over it. Holiday Inn Express needs a Luden.

Eric, Zac, H0pp3, and Joe put on an awesome show as always. Best dudes.

Yup they are! And Scott and Bruce too for holding down the fort, literally!

Bruce had stage manager card on his lanyard. Impressed! Scott gave me sips when I shouldn't have had them. Enjoy the sickness those of you who drank from his ass pocket whiskey.
