tell yr nyc friends!....

Viva L’American Death Ray Music, VV, K-Holes, Glasslands Gallery (289 Kent), 9pm sharp, $6: though Homosexuals were forced to postpone their tour and won’t make it, wahooo! Viva l’American Death Ray Music’s first NYC show in a couple of years! This legendary Memphis band has been making amazing records for nearly a decade now and, as all are so busy around the world with other projects never get together, rarely make it out on the road. VV is a secret surprise touring band from Houston adorned in Native American accessories. K-Holes are a new local collection of Atlanta expats featuring current and former members of Black Lips, Wet Dreams, Golden Triangle, and McNasty himself (who ain’t actually from Atlanta but married into it)!

then, later tonight...

New York Night Train Wednesdays, Motor City Bar (127 Ludlow), 10pm - 4am, free: As always, the Conductor will be at Motor City for his weekly New York Night Train music salon. This Wednesdays guests are the four members of Memphis super-group Viva l’American Death Ray Music: NYNT regular guest, Golden Triangle’s Mr. Nicholas Ray, Goner recording artist Harlan T Bobo, Polyphonic Spree drummer Jeffery Buock, and organist Brendan Spenglar (who’s played with everbody from Tav Falco to Jack Oblivian to Andre Williams). All are distinguished gentlemen of the world with distinct style and taste. They spin with a dry rub slathered in peppery molasses sauce.

and-on friday, the 4th...

Viva L'American Death Ray Music, Jessica Ann, Puddin' Tang, Lover, Hollywood, Cake Shop (152 Ludlow), 10pm, $6: 4th of July with a loud bang. Check out this amazing bill! One of Viva l'American Death Ray Music's first NYC shows in a couple of years! New York is lucky to get two appearances this week by what is still one of the best bands in the world. Jessica Ann is a new singer-songwriter rapidly distinguishing herself in our community with no lack of flair. Puddin' Tang, who should need no introduction, is one of NYC's favorite party bands - chock full o'swampy goodness. Memphis, TN's Lover! is the Jeff Crook of Reatards/Lost Sounds new project. And openers Hollywood, punk-ass Baltimorons straight out of the garage, will tear it up after the fireworks.
