A new turn today in the off-court romantic troubles of Memphis junior forward Robert Dozier resembles a miniversion of the weekend battle of Birmingham where fans and players had a brief but heated postgame confrontation.
A woman identified as Dozier’s current girlfriend, Andrea Brown, 21, obtained an order of protection against LaParis Woods, his former girlfriend who has alleged that Dozier slapped her after leaving a nightclub at 3:30 in the morning on Feb. 3.
Brown said in her complaint that Woods has been stalking her and that she walked up to Brown at the Plush Club that night, made a gun gesture with her fingers and said, “I don’t fight. I shoot.”
The complaint said Brown and Dozier left the club separately, but that Woods later showed up at Brown’s apartment and made more threats.
When Dozier showed up, Woods threatened him and began kicking his car, the complaint added.
Before leaving, Woods allegedly told Brown, “I’ll be back.”
Brown said Woods made the same type of threats to her at the club in January and that in November she drove her car in a threatening manner while the two were in traffic.
The 6-9 Dozier, a prized member of the University of Memphis top-ranked basketball team, was suspended for one game earlier this month after the early-morning nightclub incident was reported.
According to an affidavit, Woods, 21, said Dozier hit her twice in the face with an open hand during an argument after leaving the club.
Woods filed a petition for a protective order, but Dozier has not been charged with a crime.
The complaints against Dozier and Woods are scheduled to be back in General Sessions Criminal Court on Wednesday.
