i live a block from this joint. when they first opened up i was completely turned off by $7 prices, douchebag owner, and stupid hours. they used to close at 7pm everyday, which is just retarded. its a good hot dog, but all that left a bad taste in my mouth. my korean friends who run the corner store across the street where i buy beer and smokes everyday told me that the owner of wayne's dropped by when they were opening up to berate them for providing alcohol to the poor community and a place for thugs to hang out. he said he was going to put an end to all that and change the community of MLK blvd. This guy is a piece of shit. I could go back and give this another shot, but I'd prefer Zach's Shack any day, open til 4, serving beer til 2, and cheaper.

aww, that sucks. I wanted to like this place. it has Old Style...

I live up by Alberta / MLK and see my fair share of sketchy / poor / drug addled folks about, but I've gotta say that particular corner is a tough one. we were watching police cruisers circle the block the whole time we were eating our dogs...

I can sorta understand the business owner wanting to repel thugs from his own shop, but he sure as shit shouldn't arrive with an attitude that he's gonna "fix" the neighborhood. sounds like he's spent a few too many years away from his beloved Chicago.

"he said he was going to put an end to all that and change the community of MLK blvd."

"... but he sure as shit shouldn't arrive with an attitude that he's gonna "fix" the neighborhood."

And don't forget,it's for your own good. You folks think i'm crazy or stupid for leaving Portland? OK,maybe you don't,but either way- - BWAAHHHHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

"sounds like he spent a few too many years away from his beloved Chicago."

I would bet this guy isn't even really from Chicago. His attitude seems to scream Lake Oswego all the way!

"This guy is a piece of shit."

Sure seems like it...

I wish I was from Chicago so I could feel personally offended. think Wisconsin's close enough?

but dude, you shouldn't leave Portland, the influx of the "creative class" is really making it a great place for vegan snacks and sustainable craft galleries. I mean, a two-bedroom house for $300k and just five blocks away from a tapas restaurant, this is one happenin' little town

I miss the liquor store that used to be in that area. The line out the door and down the block. Great place to get stabbed I've heard. They turned it all a little too "bike friendly" for my taste.
