The newest release from ECSR won’t be released domestically on Goner until September 8th, but that hasn’t stopped the folks at New Musical Express from delivering this review:
“Winners of the Australian Mercury Music Prize, and NME’s Mad Band Name of The Week award, ECSR are four men with garage-rock pulsing in great wibbly waves from their very fingertips. Their second album, to be released with their self-titled debut for the first time on these shores, is sweaty, rough and ready. ‘Memory Lane’ is Stones-meets-Stooges rifforama, while ‘Wrapped Up’ throws a touch of Dinosaur Jr grungery into the mix and ‘Colour Television’ flirts with Wire. An easy comparison would be the Datsuns, but this is much closer to White Denim’s first album. And while they don’t have as many ideas as the Texans (it’s got one thing on its mind) they can eddy our currents anytime.”
Next Friday, ECSR plays with the Goodnight Loving at Prince of Wales in Melbourne!
